We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It extracts what the IQ Bot does, converting it and ensuring the entire process right from the input to the output and is fully automated. It is digitizing a particular process, which is really great.""You do not need to have IT skills. I come from a finance background, so I can attest to the fact that you do not need IT skills to use Automation Anywhere to leverage it on your teams.""I found the new feature of integrating Python and HTML the most valuable.""This most valuable features of this solution are the drag-and-drop interface, and it is easy to code.""From an SAP point of view, we have in-built features. They have integrated everything together, so it's much easier for us to use that.""Scalability is good. There is no question about its scalability.""They have a credential vault, which is 256-bit encrypted. That is the highest security that can be provided when it comes to credential maintenance. With a credential vault, other than the user who is entering the password, no one else knows what the password is.""It is very easy to use and learn compared to a programming language, where you have to have a background in coding. Anyone can learn it. Learning the software is easy."

"It is quite stable, and it has got very user-friendly features, which are important in terms of maintaining our scripts from a long-term perspective. It is very stable for desktop-based, UI-based, and mobile applications. Object repositories and other features are also quite good.""The most valuable feature of the solution is the number of plugins for object recognition. The predefined libraries allow us to automate tasks.""The solution is very scalable.""There are many good things. Like it is intuitive and scripting was easy. Plus the availability of experienced resources in India due to its market leadership.""The cost is the most important factor in this tool.""This tool is really good. We don't need to write any code, but it writes the code itself, only record and play. And it is simple, and it is not heavy; I mean, it doesn't have a large footprint, and it works well for us.""The most valuable feature for UFT is the ability to test a desktop application.""The most valuable feature of Micro Focus UFT Developer is the flexibility to work with many different types of software."

Cons
"We have been looking at processes which can easily transition into a large scale environment, where you can have cloud or hybrid model. However, being a bank, some of our processes are critical and we would like to hold those on-premise. This limits us with our usage of Automation Anywhere.""I want the tool to be more stabilized. After three or four hours, the navigation keeps changing. We will be running error handling for 8,000 process and the system will fail. We need it to be more stable.""Their Community Edition is awful. Every second day, it will fail. It will become corrupt.""Built-in HTML features are lagging in this solution, whereas in UiPath, they are very good.""There should be more available Data Analytics and more AI Front and Deep Learn concepts.""The solution should have a more robust forum to help users navigate the solution, learn about it, and get help when they need it.""Sometimes the tool is timing out, which would be a good thing to have resolved.""It is not able to use OCR effectively and has limited usability."

More Automation Anywhere (AA) Cons →

"Object definition and recognition need improvement, especially with calendar controls. I faced challenges with schedulers and calendars.""The support from Micro Focus needs a lot of improvement.""It's now too heavy and they should be making it faster. We do an attempt at automatic regression testing. We schedule a test to start at a certain time. It takes a lot of time to download the resources and start UFT. Competitors in this area have tools that start faster and run the test faster. For example, if the test at our side will take 10 minutes, another tool will do that in one minute.""The product has shown no development over the past 10 or 15 years.""The parallel execution of the tests needs improvement. When we are running tests in LeanFT, there are some limitations in terms of running the same tests simultaneously across different browsers. If I'm running a test, let's say to log in, I should be able to execute it through IE, through Microsoft Edge, through Chrome, through Mozilla, etc. This capability doesn't exist in LeanFT. Parallel execution of the test cases across different browsers need to be added.""UFT is like a flagship of testing tools, but it's too expensive and people are not using it so much. They should work on their pricing to make themselves more competitive.""With Smart Bear products generally, you can have only one instance of the tool running on a machine.""It would be improved by adding a drag-and-drop interface to help alleviate the coding."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Pricing is too high for small-scale groups. The Control Room yearly fee is high, making it difficult to break even."
  • "Automation Anywhere is competitive... Pega is somewhat comparable, but Pega also requires a lot more infrastructure and a lot more experience to get up and running."
  • "Automation Anywhere is costlier than the general competition. That is aligned with the share of the market it has."
  • "They're very flexible around pricing and licensing."
  • "They give us a good deal on the licensing because we bundle and customize things. If you ask to get a bulk business deal, you will receive more benefit. If you take other products from the suite, like IQ Bot, you can also receive a deal on the licensing."
  • "We just did a round of price comparison on a global scale and found it's so hard to compare the license prices. But, Automation Anywhere, in general, is on the same price level as the other vendors, a bit lower in some cases."
  • "If you look at the capital expenditure, Automation Anywhere is number two to UiPath. But if you take a long-term view, on a scalable model of a large number of bots coming out, it slowly goes on to become the costliest tool. There is something they can do about that. The capital expenditure goes out right at the point of buying the tool. For Automation Anywhere, I would need to spend $20,000. UiPath can give me something for $6,000, while Blue Prism will come in at $300,000."
  • "It's cheaper than other similar solutions."
  • More Automation Anywhere (AA) Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "It is quite expensive and is priced per seat or in concurrent (or floating) licenses over a period of months."
  • "The pricing is quite high compared to the competition."
  • "The cost of this solution is a little bit high and we are considering moving to another solution."
  • "When we compare in the market with other tools that have similar features, it may be a little bit extra, but the cost is ten times less."
  • "It is cheap, but if you take the enterprise license, it is valid for both software items."
  • "The licensing is very expensive, so often, we don't have enough VMs to run all of our tests."
  • "Its cost is a bit high. From the licensing perspective, I am using a concurrent license. It is not a seed license. It is something that I can use in our network. It can also be used by other users."
  • "The price of the solution could be lowered. The cost is approximately $25 per year for a subscription-based license."
