Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Support is good and it works fine.""The most valuable feature is the one for SAP batch processing... There are certain other mid-level workload automation tools which can handle the OS level, but SAP is something which is really very critical. Automic stands out from the ordinary tools because handling SAP processes is absolutely easy with it.""Our company uses it to connect different systems.""With the automation, we are able to provide background services. It is very economical and not possible to do manually.""Workload Automation's most valuable features are perspective analytics and coding.""I like that Automic Workload Automation has many features compared to other products. There are a lot of good features, and architecture-wise there is a valuable client concept. The architecture and the multi-tenancy is a multi-client concept. That is also useful.""The most valuable features are that a lot systems are supported. You can use this for z/OS, Windows, Unix, SAP, etc.""The Zero Upgrade feature is the most valuable."

"The log findings and troubleshooting on MOVEit are pretty easy. When you go to the logs, it clearly tells you what time a transfer happened, what time it failed, what is the source path, what is the destination path, and what is the failure reason. It's pretty straightforward.""MOVEit's best features were the number of options available, like folder creation, and user-friendliness.""The convenience of renaming files and using time stamps to segregate them has been very valuable.""I admire its ability to transfer really large files. One of the files that we transferred was 70 gigs. We didn't try anything larger than that, but so far, whenever somebody came to us to process a really large file, we were able to do it successfully. It can handle large files. That is one thing that I like about Automation.""Especially at the time of monitoring, it's a nice way to take a look at the script and take a look at run time, which gives enough information for the files that are getting picked or not.""The most valuable feature of MOVEit is the upload speed.""It satisfies our requirements but they don't do new improvements as per the market.""Offers a large collection of very good path planning algorithms."

Cons
"Choosing Automic Workload Automation essentially locks us into their ecosystem, making it nearly impossible to switch to a different product.""There are some problems when using the new interface.""The SSH agent is missing in version 12.1. Maybe it would be a good addition to see on the web client of the next version of Atomic.""There could be a better user interface for end users. They should make it more intuitive, not based on Java.""After the merger, it is getting more American. Now, they do not have support in French and have limited German documentation. This is a critical problem for companies who have older generations who did not have English in school.""In talking with other customers as well, they would like to see a few enhancements done where you can pull in outside data sources to get a cumulative view from one centralized place.""Documentation is not great. It was previously much better.""I would like to see the event engine in the next release."

More Automic Workload Automation Cons →

"The initial setup is a bit difficult.""Communication can be improved between the product owners and users.""Something that I would like to see is better upgrade support. We had looked at getting help with an upgrade, and to do it after hours, it was going to be $6,000. It only takes 15 minutes to do. It'd be nice if the after-hour support was a little more reasonable.""At times, we had connection issues with MOVEit, and it had a tendency to reboot without any reason.""It takes some time to learn and understand how the solution functions.""We have had some challenges. Earlier when we were setting it up, a component called gateway, which runs in the DMV, was not working as expected. It was going down very often. That means most of our vendors were not able to connect using SFTP because that service was down. We had to put in a lot of monitoring to make sure if that goes down, there is some visibility instantaneously so that our system admins can go and do a restart.""Since I have to monitor two times a day, it would be nice if they have script templates.""If the transfers are more or the file size is big, it takes more time. It doesn't have much capacity to process multiple files at the same time. It can get stuck or take a lot of time to process the files."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Automatic is heavily integrated in our organization. The cost to change would be a huge factor for us, and we have not found any other product that is better out there."
  • "Do your own proof of concept. Make sure you know what you want. Be clear about what you want the product to do for you. Go out and meet with the vendor, then test it."
  • "The cost of arrays is high. If you want to buy an array for an application, and see value from it, you need about half a million dollars. That is too expensive."
  • "It costs to scale. While, it is scalable, the add-ons are expensive."
  • "It has helped us reduce costs."
  • "You do not need any humans to start jobs, so you can save a lot of money."
  • "We have received a lot of time and cost efficiencies from using the product."
  • "We cannot use all the functions because they are too expensive."

  • "I haven't really priced out many other products like this, but I feel it's reasonable. Their upgrade support after hours was going to be $6,000. I just made the decision to wing it and just do it during business hours and call support if there was a problem."
  • "When compared to other products I've used, I believe MoveIt is worth the money someone might pay to use it."
  • "Technical support is only available with a paid license."
  • "It's cost-effective."
