Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The product detects and blocks threats and is more proactive than firewalls.""Fortinet has helped free up around 20 percent of our staff's time to help us out.""The solution was relatively easy to deploy.""It is stable and scalable.""The setup is pretty simple.""The most valuable feature is the analysis, because of the beta structure.""Having all monitoring, response, tracking, and mitigation tools in one dashboard provides our analysts and SOC team with a comprehensive view at a glance.""The features that I have found most valuable are the ability to customize it and to reduce its size. It lets you run in a very small window in terms of memory and resources on legacy cash registers."

"It warns you if there is a threat and it's perfect because it runs in the background and doesn't interfere with anything.""The performance is good compared to other products that slow down the laptop, post-installation.""It's not heavy on the system.""The solution can scale well.""Avast as a product is as easy as it gets - everything is outlined and transparent in terms of licensing.""Avast Business Endpoint Protection's best feature is its user-friendliness.""It's straightforward to set up.""Our favorite feature is the PC Patch Management."

More Avast Business Hub Pros →

"The most valuable feature is its ability to customize for different groups.""The most valuable features of Malwarebytes are the EDR and the complete feature set provided.""The solution is very good at scanning.""We have seen a decrease of approximately ninety percent in the number of events.""Malwarebytes is a comprehensive solution for keeping endpoints safe and secure from intruders, viruses, malware and so on.""Being able to cloud manage it from just a cloud login is valuable. We can get to it from anywhere, which is really helpful. The fact that we can remediate from the cloud console is one of our favorite features.""The most valuable features of Malwarebytes are the agents, user experience, efficiency of the findings, and MDR features.""Provides successful ransomware shut down operations."

Cons
"FortiEDR could add a separate scanning dashboard. In incident management, we prefer to remove the endpoint system from the environment and scan the system. We typically use Symantec for that, but if we want to use FortiEDR for that, then we need a scanning tab to clarify things.""They can include the automation for the realtime updates. We have a network infrastructure with remote sites. Whenever they send updates, they are not automated. We have to go into the console and push those updates. I wish it was more automated. The update file is currently around 31 MB. It could be smaller.""Once, we had an event that was locked and blocked, but information about it came to us two or three days later.""I think cloud security and SASE are areas of concern in the product where improvements are required. The tool's cloud version has to be improved in terms of the security it offers.""I would like the solution to extend beyond endpoint protection and include other attack surfaces such as other network components.""The EDR console should have more extensive reporting. You shouldn't need to purchase FortiAnalyzer. It should be included in the EDR part. The security adviser cloud platform could be improved with more options for exclusive or intensive rules for devices.""Cannot be used on mobile devices with a secure connection.""The only minor concern is occasional interference with desired programs."

More Fortinet FortiEDR Cons →

"It should have proper and timely updates to deal with new viruses as they come onto the market.""I would like to see better protection and more spyware included with the free version.""It could download faster during deployment.""It reduces network and bandwidth speed.""The accuracy of the scanner could be improved.""The solution could improve by providing more security.""It could have a 10,000-feet overview of the whole infrastructure because the software is easily installable on the whole infrastructure and not just the infrastructure, but also the workstation themselves. I would love to have a 360 view of the whole network and basically see from where a test is coming, and if there is an instance in the cloud that is actually misbehaving or if there is a workstation that is infected and stuff like that. It can also have some kind of AI to detect all those things and then cut off the connection from that machine. In Cortex, you can link the logs, reports, and all that stuff. You can also see the full picture of when it happened, and you can trace it back all the way to a file or something else. I would like to see similar functionality in Avast Business Endpoint Protection.""The solution needs to be more secure and work to protect us better from people trying to mess with our systems."

More Avast Business Hub Cons →

"If they want to compete with bigger players, they should consider adding items like threat detection and website warnings.""They can include advanced scanning and improve reporting. I scan malware on the pen drive. Some more reports need to be added for that. It should also provide better protection because we have a new version of the malware.""Every once in a while, it gets clobbered by updates from other places. I don't think this should happen.""Malwarebytes is not there in the reports from Gartner or IDC...If we look at the market trends and the industry, most customers look at Gartner's reports to identify whether a product is a leader, challenger, or a big product, depending on which they choose.""It would be better if updates could be downloaded, and deployed, on-premises to avoid low bandwidth causing issues.""A solution must be installed in the main gateway to give an overview of the incoming and outgoing traffic. The technical support team's response time should be faster.""Overall, I haven't found any ways the solution lacks in features or usability.""They could come up with better reporting capabilities."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I know it is tough to get big budget additions up front, but I highly recommend deploying environment wide and adding the forensic service."
  • "There are no issues with the pricing."
  • "The price is comprable to other endpoint security solutions."
  • "The pricing is typical for enterprises and fairly priced."
  • "I'm not familiar with pricing, but it looks a bit costly compared to other vendors I think."
  • "The pricing is good."
  • "I would rate the solution's pricing an eight out of ten."
  • "The hardware costs about €100,000 and about €20,000 annually for access."

  • "It is $75 per license for a year. There are no additional costs."
  • "I am using the free version."
  • "We are on a monthly subscription for Avast Business Endpoint Protection."
  • "If you become a partner, you will receive the wholesale price."
  • "I am using the free version of Avast."
  • "There are no costs other than licensing."
  • More Avast Business Hub Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Yearly, it is around $50 per client."
  • "We expect to pay $1,000 USD a month, depending on the number of users."
  • "It is expensive."
  • "The cost may be something in the ballpark of $20-25 a year per computer."
  • "Its cost is around $60 a machine. The cost of the total solution for 250 people is about $8,500 a year. If we add EDR to it, it will bring that cost up to about $15,000. The cost for Carbon Black is about $25,000, which is $10,000 more, but you get all AI functions with it."
  • "I would say that it's affordable. It costs much less than Sentinel One, CrowdStrike, or anything of that nature. But, at the same time, you are getting what you pay for. So I would say it's one of the best when you're comparing traditional NextGen AVs like Webroot that aren't the best in the bunch."
  • "It is really expensive. We've got between 30 and 40 licenses every year, and for the number of licenses that we have, we're finding that Malwarebytes on average costs between $900 and $1,000 more per year than comparable options. We're paying about $3,300 per year for these licenses. There are no additional costs beyond the standard licensing fee."
  • "Its licensing is annual. There are no additional costs beyond the standard licensing fee."

    Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by Fortinet FortiEDR users.

An Owner at a security firm says, "The features that I have found most valuable are the ability to customize it and to reduce its size. It lets you run in a very small window in terms of memory and resources on legacy cash registers. The customer has literally about 800 cash registers. That was the use case for Fortinet FortiEDR - to get that down into a tiny space. The only way to do that was to use this product because it had that ability to unbundle services that were a surplus.”

Chandan M., Chief Technical Officer at Provision Technologies LLP, mentions, “The ease of deployment and configuration is valuable. It's very easy compared to other vendors like Sophos. Sophos' configuration is complex. Fortinet is a lot easier to understand. You don't need a lot of admin knowledge to do the configuration.” He also adds, “The security is also very good and the firewall response is good.”

Harpreet S., Information Technology Support Specialist at Chemtrade Logistics, explains, "It notifies us if there's any suspicious file on any PC. If any execution or similar kind of thing is happening, it just alerts us. It doesn't only alert. It also blocks the execution until we allow it. We check whether the execution is legitimate or not, and then approve it or keep it blocked. This gives us a little bit of control over this mechanism. Fortinet FortiEDR is also very straightforward and easy to maintain."

DeAndre V., Senior Network Administrator at a financial services firm, states, “The dashboard is easy to follow and use. The deployment and uninstalling were easy. I like the detailed information about the path of a file that might be suspicious. Being able to check that out was easy to follow. Exceptions are easy to create and the interface is easy to follow with a nice appearance.
