"The most valuable feature of Commvault HyperScale X is the automatic nature of its operation. We don't need to worry about sets of documents. It worked automatically, we don't need to think about it. When you set the solution up in a good way, you don't need to worry.""We can use it on-premises and in the cloud.""It never fails. Sometimes we miss a backup, but there's always a reason for it, and it's not the fault of Commvault. In the last three years, we've never had to open a ticket with Commvault.""The use of hyperscale storage hardware and Commvault software has allowed us to create a large storage pool and achieve significant savings in our back-end storage costs.""What I found most valuable in Commvault Complete Data Protection is its deduplication technique, mainly because the solution has the highest deduplication ratio, giving you higher storage capacity.""Complete Data Protection is convenient because you can manage various types of databases, and it's pretty easy to set it up.""Commvault software is a single platform where you can enable whatever you want to use, like endpoint protection. You can enable those licenses on a single platform screen. This is where I see the value ad. This is a single management tool.""The most valuable features of Commvault Complete Data Protection are the complete feature sets it provides in one platform. You are able to backup many different types of data, such as virtual machines, servers, cloud, endpoints, Microsoft Office365, and Gmail. The usage of the solution is flexible."

Cons
"We need more options for the backup schedule.""The solution's updates and rollouts of the patches cause a lot of problems.""The user experience needs a little refreshing touch.""I think the solution itself keeps up with everything else. Sometimes it would be nice if they could move a little bit quicker and have faster updates, but in terms of the features, it's absolutely fine and adequate."

"You need quite a lot of human resources to maintain a Commvault environment, to keep it operational. Also, it would be nice to if there were an easier way set up some Commvault components.""We get an alarm if a lot of files are deleted, for example. That could look like ransomware, even if it is not.""I would like more communication informing us on what Commvault is doing in the background.""Commvault HyperScale X is more expensive for hybrid environments than traditional solutions.""We had some small issues with the reporting, but that was just a matter of fine-tuning the kinds of messages we receive by email. It was a little overwhelming in the initial configuration. So we reviewed our configuration with our partner and customized the reports so that we only get the important reports. I haven't seen any big issues or things that the solution is missing.""I would assess the Command Center as a very useful but sometimes difficult tool. It is multipurpose. It has all the features of logging and monitoring, especially for the actual setup. For us, it is easy because we work daily with it, but for customers who only use it once a week, they sometimes have some difficulties. Command Center is not user-friendly for beginners.""In an upcoming release, the reports could be better.""The retention log feature could be an issue for us and can be improved. The backup schedule can also be better in terms of how you set it up."

  • "Licensing could be better explained. Sometimes, it's unclear what features are available in different licensing models."
  • "Compared to other competitors and vendors the pricing is fair."
  • "In my experience, compared to solutions like Veritas and Veeam, while they do have their technical pluses and minuses, Commvault can save you on average forty percent initially, and then twenty to twenty-five percent annually."
  • "The price could perhaps be lower as well."
  • "Our cost is around $20,000 per month. The previous year, it was around $30,000 per month. It now costs less because Commvault changed the licensing type for providers."
