We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It's an ideal gateway solution for small and medium businesses, i.e., around 300 devices can be easily handled.""The solution has good performance."

More Netgate TNSR Pros →

"AWS Direct Connect provides a secure and encrypted connection over the internet.""AWS Direct Connect is highly secure and much faster compared to normal network infrastructure.""It is a highly scalable solution.""It is a stable solution."

More AWS Direct Connect Pros →

"The solution provides high availability.""I found nothing of value in this solution.""My company opted for this solution because it can individually perform. Basically, we don't require load balancers and all those additional feature sets or additional devices that might be required. The solution can handle the certificate, DNS queries, and all that stuff individually.""The initial setup is pretty straightforward.""The initial setup is pretty easy.""The product has two-factor authentication.""It allows us to work remotely.""One of the most valuable features of SonicWall Netextender is the integration of VPN accounts with Microsoft Identity Management, which enables us to enforce secure access through Microsoft Intune and conditional access policies. This helps ensure that only authorized individuals are able to access the VPN, rather than anyone with knowledge of a password."

More SonicWall Netextender Pros →

Cons
"There must be a more easy-to-use GUI."

More Netgate TNSR Cons →

"It is complicated to do additional BGP configuration for the product.""It would be good if we could connect AWS Direct Connect from different networks.""It can be difficult to configure compared to cloud-based GUIs.""Its terminologies are challenging to interpret."

More AWS Direct Connect Cons →

"The solution takes up a lot of bandwidth.""The product does not work well.""The Netextender application itself doesn't really look pretty, however, we can still use it. We don't care what it looks like. That said, if they did a cosmetic update, that would be fine.""There must be a multi-factor authentication enabled or integrated by default with it in order to be integrated with NetExtender.""The only concern I do have is with the zero trust, and the solution is not coping with the newer technologies as much as it needs to do on that particular factor.""They need to rewrite the software to make it a usable product.""Right now, you have to load each license on to an appliance. You can't pool across multiple appliances. So, you end up having to do a lot of administrative work to recover if an internet provider goes down, and you cannot leverage it as easily into a DR solution.""SonicWall can be difficult for some people, but I don't find it difficult. Some companies provide a VPN client for free, but you have to pay for NetExtender."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "There is not a license required for this solution but the price should be less expensive."
  • More Netgate TNSR Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "It is an expensive solution."
  • "It has reasonable pricing in terms of the features offered."
  • More AWS Direct Connect Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "After a certain number of users, you require extra licensing."
  • "You have to pay for its license. There are some other companies that provide a VPN client for free. When you buy NetExtender, its license is available for one, three, or five years."
  • "Cost wise, it would be a few hundred dollars for the base appliance with the first five clients. Then from there, your cost per seat depends on how many you're getting. It's a one-time cost, and then you have a few hundred dollars a year for the maintenance contract once you get the one-time seat costs out of the way."
  • "The price of SonicWall Netextender is reasonable. Whether it's a small shop with only five users or a larger operation with 130 users, we have received no complaints or objections regarding cost from any of the clients we are looking to deploy it with."
  • "The solution has a pretty good price."
  • "The solution is cheap itself, not too costly."

    AWS Direct Connect
AWS Direct Connect is a cloud service solution that makes it easy to establish a dedicated network connection from your premises to AWS. Using AWS Direct Connect, you can establish private connectivity between AWS and your datacenter, office, or colocation environment, which in many cases can reduce your network costs, increase bandwidth throughput, and provide a more consistent network experience than Internet-based connections.

AWS Direct Connect lets you establish a dedicated network connection between your network and one of the AWS Direct Connect locations. Using industry standard 802.1q VLANs, this dedicated connection can be partitioned into multiple virtual interfaces. This allows you to use the same connection to access public resources such as objects stored in Amazon S3 using public IP address space, and private resources such as Amazon EC2 instances running within an Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) using private IP space, while maintaining network separation between the public and private environments. Virtual interfaces can be reconfigured at any time to meet your changing needs.

-Enforce granular access policies and extend network access through native clients
-Enhance firewall encryption and security by redirecting all client traffic through VPN
-Reduce administrative overhead by simplifying remote access management
