Quotes From Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"The best aspect of the solution is its backup functionality.""It's very simple to configure which is very useful. It's not complex to configure it.""Azure Backup is good because it is entirely cloud-based, which means that you can be 99.9% sure that your backup is safe.""I have no issues with the stability at all. So I don't necessarily care about the stability of the product. I look more at whether or not can I recover. And I haven't had a failed recovery yet. I've got no failed recoveries of all my years.""I like that it's a stable solution and their support is good. I think Microsoft's commercial force is superior.""I like that it's a simple system.""The feature that I have found the most valuable is that it is easy to create a backup by using Azure Backup. It also has a good user interface and nice features for sending notifications when any backup fails or there is a change in the status of virtual machines.""The initial setup was very easy."

"The product has a proven track record of good backups without much of a failure ratio. It also has a good backup in terms of the compression ratio.""Dell EMC Avamar has many valuable features. It's very stable and it's easy to manage.""The deduplication feature is the best aspect of the solution.""The solution is very stable.""The most valuable features are image backups and file backups.""The initial setup is easy.""Scheduling is valuable. It does a good job of backing up, and it does a good job of restoring. Nobody has got a problem with that. The agents are well supported.""Duplication and the speed of backup are great."

Cons
"The time required to restore files should be a little faster.""To make it a ten, it should have the ability to extend the retention and to perform a copy of the data outside of the subscription - with no additional costs.""We would like to see some kind of notification given to the user that a file was not synchronized well or what may have happened.""They need to improve the frequency of the backup. You can only backup one to three times a day. It would be better to back up continuously throughout the day.""On-prem can be complex to set up but the cloud is simple.""The monitoring and tagging features could be improved.""The compression ratio of the backup data should be improved.""The solution is still in its infancy; it's not a mature product yet."

More Azure Backup Cons »

"When we used the solution, it was still new, and so the customer service/technical support was not the best.""It would be helpful if the product offered more integration potential.""There also needs to be single sign-on support.""If you need to pull data out of it to offload to tapes, that's messy. You have a mechanism for it, but it is painful.""The screen design is a bit back-dated.""The product could offer more integration capabilities.""Avamar is dependent on the hardware. It can't be implemented with ordinary storage. It can only be implemented with an EMC product. We want to have a backup solution that allows us to use independent storage and other hardware. It would be good if they can simplify its technology and make it possible to implement it with another storage. This is probably not possible because Avamar is an EMC product, and EMC would like to sell its own products.""EMC has discontinued their Avamar hardware version. They only advertise the Avamar virtual edition."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"This is an expensive solution in the Bangladesh marketplace.""The price is pretty good, maybe $30 for a machine, I can't complain.""The price is somewhat high and could be lower.""It is a bit costly initially, but it is well worth it in the long run, especially for fighting against a number of threats, such as ransomware, which the IT industry is facing.""Support payment works by the level of partnership and the number of shares.""We are paying about $100,000 USD per year, just for a couple of servers.""Price-wise, it's similar to AWS."

More Azure Backup Pricing and Cost Advice »

"The cost of the solution is very expensive.""It's a very high-end solution and comparable to Rubrik and Cohesity.""Its licensing is weird. It is not just the licenses; we also purchase hardware. With most software products, such as Veeam, Commvault, and Data Protector, there is no hardware purchase at the same time. Because Avamar and Data Domain are tied together, they have an integrated pipe. You can separate them, but basically, they're designed to work as a couple. Because the Data Domain backend is designed to do dedupe and compression, we get 60:1. When you count it, you count it as a straight compression, but of course, that's with dedupe and some other stuff. You have to buy the hardware, the licensing, and the software at the same time. So, it's not just software.""The solution is not expensive for the value one gets.""The price of this product should be lower.""It is easy to use.""When it comes to competition the price is not what is important, it's not the problem.""It was very expensive before, but after integrating it with Dell EMC Avamar Data Protection suite licensing, we are getting better discounts."
