Pros
The solution works well overall. It's easy to implement and simple to use.The most valuable feature is that it ensures our servers are up.The most valuable feature is that it's stable. It hasn't crossed any thresholds.A product that is well-integrated for monitoring Microsoft Azure. The solution integrates well with the Microsoft platform. It's a service from Microsoft, so it will scale.I am impressed by the reporting on the average eight ports that we get from this solution.

If a key monitored value has crossed a threshold, it sends out an alert. And the solution is able to intelligently find out if something is beyond the range that it normally resides in.With auto-discovery, we didn't need to consider much. We just installed the agent on the host and it was able to detect everything from the host level up to the service level, for whatever stack was installed, and that includes containers and dockers.Sometimes it's able to provide a proper RCA on its own. It's able to correlate different events that occurred and that becomes like an RCA in itself.

Cons
I'd like the solution to do more around vulnerability assessment. It's lacking in the product right now. When something goes down, we want the option to have automation in place to get it back up again as quickly as possible. The troubleshooting logs need improvement. There should be some improvement there. I have a hard time finding the right logs at the right times whenever there is an issue occurring. As a younger product it still has room for feature improvement and enhancement.n comparison to New Relic, which I've used before, it's a bit more complicated. It's not as easy to use. It also took some time to get it working. The implementation needs to be simpler. They can simplify the overall complexity since you have multiple data sources in the cloud for monitoring. It's quite simple, but there are so many portals. It takes time to work with it. If they could simplify the user configuration, that would be good. They need to work on a more hybrid deployment that will allow us to monitor local on-premise deployments and connect to different systems. I would like to see more integration.

New Relic has a better UI in terms of how it presents the data. Many managers, as well as our customers, used to ask for reports, such as "top X number of queries that are slow," or "top pages that have the highest number of issues." This is something that can be improved by Instana. Currently, they don't have that kind of reporting available out-of-the-box.
