We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Exceptions are easy to create and the interface is easy to follow with a nice appearance.""Fortinet is very user-friendly for customers.""Additionally, when it comes to EDR, there are more tools available to assist with client work.""The product's initial setup phase is very easy.""The main thing is that I feel safe. Because the processes that have been used to get a handle on the attackers are much better than other competitors""The console is easy to read. I also like the scanning part and the ability to move assets from one to the other.""The product detects and blocks threats and is more proactive than firewalls.""The ease of deployment and configuration is valuable. It's very easy compared to other vendors like Sophos. Sophos' configuration is complex. Fortinet is a lot easier to understand. You don't need a lot of admin knowledge to do the configuration."

"Very easy to install and use."

"One of the most valuable features is the ability to manage antivirus security. There is an admin console that helps you make policies and do deployment of the clients, to make them reachable and to deploy updates.""The most valuable feature is that I don't feel that it is there. It works in the background and doesn't interfere with my daily work. All the scans are done in the background. This is the biggest advantage of this product. It works because I have never been infected since I have been using this solution. Its interface is also very good.""Symantec's detection capabilities are strong. It involves run protection and behavioral analysis.""The most valuable feature for our organization is the antivirus, as our staff is the target of zero-day malware and viruses.""The best thing about Symantec is its ability to control our endpoints from a single point. You can manage the antivirus definitions, upgrades, remote scanning, etc., from one console.""The most valuable features of this solution are that it is really easy to use, and it is secure.""The features I find the most valuable are the protection, the encryption, and the DLP.""Symantec End-User Endpoint Security is scalable."

Cons
"The dashboard isn't easy to access and manage.""Making the portal mobile friendly would be helpful when I am out of office.""Detections could be improved.""There's room for improvement in the quick response time and technical support for integration issues, especially when dealing with multiple vendors.""We'd like to see more one-to-one product presentations for the distribution channels.""Cannot be used on mobile devices with a secure connection.""We find the solution to be a bit expensive.""ZTNA can improve latency."

More Fortinet FortiEDR Cons →

"It lacks more sophisticated features and opportunity for customization."

More Barkly [EOL] Cons →

"They lack the visibility you get in a heuristical, artificial, AI type of product, like a next-gen antivirus."",""Installation of the tool on a workstation requires some technical knowledge, which could be more straightforward.""It would be nice to have customized reports integrated on the main console with no additional DB server or BI server.""Nowadays, threats are changing, and they are moving more towards script control and zero-day attacks. So, we would like to have more control similar to an EDR solution. Symantec Endpoint Protection has certainly come a long way as a traditional antivirus, but because the threats are changing, we would like to have more EDR features so that we have a detailed view of the source from where the infection entered the environment and whether it has tried to connect any other endpoint. It should provide such a detailed view for investigation. It should protect against zero-day threats, etc. These are the key enhancements that can make it a complete solution for any enterprise. Currently, we have seen organizations going for two solutions: antivirus and EDR. With both these capabilities, it would be a complete package.""We are not satisfied with this solution. It needs a lot of improvements. It doesn't detect the most recent malware and unknown threats. With most of the users working from home these days, there is also a need for some extra security layer. That's why we are thinking of going for a better solution that will take care of all of our endpoints and work from home situation. Symantec also has to work on EDI technology. Vendors like Palo Alto and Cisco are coming with their own intelligence and cloud infrastructure in which unknown threats are regularly watched and monitored, and they are reported to the admin.""I know they were just bought out by Broadcom and there have been some difficulties with Broadcom as far as getting license renewals, etc. Mostly, due to the fact that it's confusing, even for the vendor, people are turned off by it. The vendors are telling us that it can take weeks for them to get a renewal quote, nevermind the actual renewal.""The enterprise edition does not report attacks on external devices."

    Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by Fortinet FortiEDR users.

An Owner at a security firm says, "The features that I have found most valuable are the ability to customize it and to reduce its size. It lets you run in a very small window in terms of memory and resources on legacy cash registers. The customer has literally about 800 cash registers. That was the use case for Fortinet FortiEDR - to get that down into a tiny space. The only way to do that was to use this product because it had that ability to unbundle services that were a surplus.”

Chandan M., Chief Technical Officer at Provision Technologies LLP, mentions, “The ease of deployment and configuration is valuable. It's very easy compared to other vendors like Sophos. Sophos' configuration is complex. Fortinet is a lot easier to understand. You don't need a lot of admin knowledge to do the configuration.” He also adds, “The security is also very good and the firewall response is good.”

Harpreet S., Information Technology Support Specialist at Chemtrade Logistics, explains, "It notifies us if there's any suspicious file on any PC. If any execution or similar kind of thing is happening, it just alerts us. It doesn't only alert. It also blocks the execution until we allow it. We check whether the execution is legitimate or not, and then approve it or keep it blocked. This gives us a little bit of control over this mechanism. Fortinet FortiEDR is also very straightforward and easy to maintain."

DeAndre V., Senior Network Administrator at a financial services firm, states, “The dashboard is easy to follow and use. The deployment and uninstalling were easy. I like the detailed information about the path of a file that might be suspicious. Being able to check that out was easy to follow. Exceptions are easy to create and the interface is easy to follow with a nice appearance.

Hackers engineer attacks to get past your existing protection. A new file signature may be enough to get past antivirus, and new techniques like fileless delivery and built-in dwell time enable hackers to evade more sophisticated forms of protection.

At Barkly, we recognize that even the most cleverly disguised malware must reveal its malicious nature eventually. Files signatures and attributes change, but the underlying techniques used by malware to gain access and infect your system remain the same. By recognizing these behaviors as they happen, Barkly even blocks never-before-seen attacks.

Instead of looking at files, Barkly analyzes activity locally across multiple levels of the system. We recognize malware based on patterns of behavior, and automatically block its execution before any harm is done.
