We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
Good identity fire walling, malware protection and application control features.Ability to manage multiple firewalls. What I like best about this product are the support and the features. The interface is very user-friendly and it is quite easy to use.Their GPS possibilities and the security that it has, especially the SD-WAN functionality, is very good.Scalability is good; the company wants to be able to handle large customers. The features I find most valuable is the VPN and the fact that we can apply our policies to the program. The most valuable features are SD-WAN, URL filtering, IPS, and virus scanning.

The centralized management is the most important feature. We can monitor what is going on at every location in our network with just one center. The most valuable feature is the application-level routing. The most useful feature for our organization is the combination of on-prem and cloud-based deployments. We connect securely to our hybrid cloud using transit VPCs and cloud on-ramp for fast deployments. The regular net routing is a good feature. The reliability is high and we have only had to restart it once or twice over the years. The product's brand recognition is one of the most valuable aspects of the solution. It's very easy to manage and monitor the network's health and security using the solution. There is minimum blind space in this solution.

Cons
The analytics are weak.Command line could be more user friendly. The interface should be more user-friendly and it should be easier to configure.Technical support used to be at a very high level but it is now a bit less so.If you have another brand of VPN where you have to put an SSL VPN between two devices, Barracuda doesn't support that at a certain point. You can't actually build the VPN between Barracuda and a different device of a different brand. If you experience an attack it can take a very long time to find a solution.I would like to see a more user-friendly dashboard and an easier interface. The technical manuals, at times, have images that don't match the actual screens and are not always as clear as they could be on the configuration.

I would like them to add some more SD-WAN ports. We have seen one implementation where there were four ISPs. Currently, we have a maximum of two ports for ISP in this device. Therefore, we cannot connect directly, and we need other switches. There should be some option to have more than two ports for SD-WAN.This solution should include a fully functional firewall at no extra charge. The inexpensive Viptela hardware may be replaced with overpriced Cisco routers. This would be a tragic mistake for Cisco as the lightweight commodity platform built by Viptela is the reason to own this solution. The solution could have a better web interface to simplify changing configurations.I would like to see a better, web-based interface to make changes to the configuration or to view statistics. The initial setup could be a bit less complex.Since most user-data is going through the solution, we are concerned about security, as all the information is in the cloud and not on-premises. The user data authentification should be higher to better prevent malicious attacks. The main issue is that not in the technology, but it comes back comparison. When we do a comparison with other SD WAN solutions, they are priced better.

Pricing and Cost Advice
The 600 series is about USD $10,000 a year and the 80 is USD $400 a year. The solution costs more than 800 Euros to purchase an F18, which is an entry model, and then another 500 Euros for instant replacement, and 500 Euros for energized updates. The total package would be around 1,900 Euros for five years license and all updates for an entry model. We pay around 150 to 200 Euros per year and there are no additional costs. In general, it tends to be cheaper than most solutions. It would be nice if the pricing and licensing offered for less.Purchasing through AWS Marketplace was good. We did it because it was easy.

80 percent reduction in WAN costs. There are no MPLS or P2P circuits left in the organization. We pay for the Cisco Customer Care support, which is a couple of hundred dollars.
