We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"The most valuable features of this solution are the IPS and the integration with ISE.""The simplicity of use is its most valuable feature. You can very clearly see things.""The stability of the solution is perfect. I believe it's the most stable solution on the market right now.""I am really satisfied with the technical support.""It is a very stable program.""The solution's integration capabilities are excellent. It's one of the best features.""It doesn't impact the devices. It is an agent-based solution, and we see no performance knock on cell phones. That was a big thing for us, especially in the mobile world. We don't see battery degradation like you do with other solutions which really drain the battery, as they're constantly doing things. That can shorten the useful life of a device.""Integration is a key selling factor for Cisco security products. We have a Cisco Enterprise Agreement with access to Cisco Email Security, Cisco Firepower, Cisco Stealthwatch, Cisco Talos, Cisco Threat Grid, Cisco Umbrella, and also third-party solutions. This is key to our security and maximizing operations. Because we do have the Email Security appliance and it is integrated with Threat Response, we have everything tied together. Additionally, we are using the Cisco SecureX platform, as we were a beta test for that new solution. With SecureX, we are able to pull all those applications into one pane for visibility and maintenance. This greatly maximizes our security operations."

"One of the biggest benefits BigFix has had for our organization is the ease and efficiency to perform many different tasks, across pillars and platforms, all from one pane of glass.""The solution is unbelievably scalable.""What I like most is that it is a powerful solution.""This has very much improved our organization by saving time to deploy thousands of endpoints to our customers.""BigFix technical support is good.""It's easy to use, not complicated.""I like the inventory and life cycle management feature.""BigFix is a great product. The flexibility of putting together your own relevance and retrieving custom data from any one of your agents is a valuable feature. It is one of my favorite features because if a boss asks me, "How many of these devices do we have?", I can put together a report in two seconds."

"The most amazing qualities of Symantec Endpoint Protection is that it provides a total solution to all virus problems.""The firewall, malware, and anti-virus protection have earned its keep in times past by catching the unexpected.""The valuable features are device control, SONOR, and anti-virus.""This solution helps in that I can control quite a few computers from our central location, with ease.""It's good at detecting signature-based stuff and stopping that.""Some of the features that were important were a built-in firewall and device control.""Some important features that are included are the built-in firewall and device control.""The most valuable feature is the automated updating feature."

Cons
"In the next version of this solution, I would like to see the addition of local authentication.""The initial setup is a bit complex because you need to execute existing antiviruses or security software that you have on your device.""In the next release, I would for it to have back up abilities. I would like the ability to go back to a point in time to when my PC was uninfected and to the moment of when the infection happened.""The reporting and analytics areas of the solution need to be improved.""I would like more seamless integration.""The technical support is very slow.""I would recommend that the solution offer more availability in terms of the product portfolio and integration with third-party products.""Maybe there is room for improvement in some of the automated remediation. We have other tools in place that AMP feeds into that allow for that to happen, so I look at it as one seamless solution. But if you're buying AMP all by itself, I don't know if it can remove malicious software after the fact or if it requires the other tools that we use to do some of that."

"I would like to see SDK for Web UI included in the next release.""They don't have a proper mobile device management capability. They're working on it, however, that's the one thing that needs improvement so that you can have full unified endpoint management.""They need better integration.""We would like to see a different license plan, e.g. to include features from lifecycle with Patch Management, as an example.""The product lacks AI, ML, and IIT.""The remote software installation could be better.""The only thing that I don't like about BigFix is that it does not support other devices such as printer firmware, router firmware, and things like that. I will be happy if I can control everything and get everything else in there, even if it is just a line item. They can do some enhancements to the Web UI. I am trying to get customers to be able to manage their environment by using Web UI, and it would be good if we can delete endpoints by using Web UI. We should also be able to generate Excel content or data tables from the Web UI without having to go to the console. It is small stuff, and it drives me crazy that I have to go to another console to do these things.""The reporting structure could be a little more simplistic. Currently, it throws too many vulnerabilities. Some of them are not needed because they are only informational and limitations, and they are not of much help. It doesn't need to show us these things."

More BigFix Cons »

"It is only available to use on computers with higher-end specs.""Managements' number one item on the "Wish List" would have to do with the real-time scan of external media inserted into any client.""I would like to see improvements in the anti-virus and the device control features.""In the next release of this solution, I would like to see more to do with malware, encryption technology, and controlling mobile devices.""It needs to die. In my opinion, Symantec was a really great security company, 10, 15 years ago. They went out, they bought all the great tools and then they never did anything with them. So they've just fallen behind and there's nothing that's going to work now to bring them back up the date that's going to regain user confidence.""They lack the visibility you get in a heuristical, artificial, AI type of product, like a next-gen antivirus.""They are lacking the visibility that you get in a heuristical, next-generation AI product.""This solution is resource-heavy."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"The costs of 50 licenses of AMP for three years is around $9,360.""The price is very good.""The visibility that we have into the endpoint and the forensics that we're able to collect give us value for the price. This is not an overly expensive solution, considering all the things that are provided. You get great performance and value for the cost.""Whenever you are doing the licensing process, I would highly advise to look at what other Cisco solutions you have in your organization, then evaluate if an Enterprise Agreement is the best way to go. In our case, it was the best way to go. Since we had so many other Cisco products, we were able to tie those in. We were actually able to get several Cisco security solutions for less than if we had bought three or four Cisco security solutions independently or ad hoc.""In our case, it is a straightforward annual payment through our Enterprise Agreement.""Our company was very happy with the price of Cisco AMP. It was about a third of what we were paying for System Center Endpoint Protection.""There are a couple of different consumption models: Pay up front, or if you have an enterprise agreement, you can do a monthly thing. Check your licensing possibilities and see what's best for your organization.""The Enterprise Agreement is like an all-you-can-eat buffet of Cisco products. In that vein, it was very affordable."

"You get what we call the Platform Edition, which you get for free. The patch service is maybe $0.50 per workstation per month. Then there's the basic server cost, which is about $1.50 per server per month. You also get into Lifecycle which does power management, OSD remote control, and those types of things, and that might be about 10 times the price - which works out to about $13 per server and, maybe $5 per workstation per month.""The price is very fair.""The price is reasonable, but our customers find it expensive.""It is too costly. It is one of the best tools, but because of pricing, not all clients support it. Its licensing is on a yearly basis.""The license is subscription-based."

More BigFix Pricing and Cost Advice »

"We pay our licensing fees on a yearly basis, and everything is included in that price.""Its price should be reasonable.""There are subscription costs, we typically purchase the annual subscription. There can be other expenses too, for example, we use CrowdStrike also as part of our policy.""The prices fluctuate, but this year I think it was maybe around $12,000.""The EDR options are costlier than other products.""Licensing is based on a yearly subscription.""Symantec is expensive.""Its price is reasonable."
