We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
Bot Insights is the most valuable feature. We don't have to struggle with generating metrics around how the bots are performing. This information coming out of Automation Anywhere is useful to us because of the way the metrics are generated. It inspires confidence from our customers. It is easy to fix bug issues which you encounter in the post-production process.Sometimes the customer will not provide any data. Using Automation Anywhere, we can easily automate to capture the customer data. Then, we can use that customer data inside the Cisco Unified Wire Voice Portal. The most valuable feature is the screen recorder, which helps to automate processes easily. The most valuable features of this solution are its scalability, security using the credential vault, and ease of use for business. The advantage of Automation Anywhere is that you don't necessarily have to come from a programming background. We have improved on IQ Bot collectively with the normal Taskbot that we use. How it got started was that we have a lot of scanned documents to input for our solution. So, I used to get a lot of scanned documents, and extracting or reading the data from those has always been a pain area. We always used to bring a manual person in to do it. Once a manual person did that activity, it was brought into Excel where I could run the bot. With the entry of IQ Bot, it now takes care of my scanned documents, which means IQ Bot does the OCR extraction and gives my data to the Automation Anywhere Taskbot. This means no manual intervention and end-to-end bot processing, along with a happy customer at the end of the day. We provide these services to multiple clients, so we have been doing this for all of our clients. From an SAP point of view, we have in-built features. They have integrated everything together, so it's much easier for us to use that.

With Blue Prism, you automate the back-end processes. Blue Prism is more like service-side automation. It is not off-circuit automation. It is more like attended automation. The most valuable feature is the ability to do surface automation, allowing interaction with legacy systems where terminal emulation is still in use. This solution has increased the speed, accuracy, and happiness of staff involved in the activities for which RPA has been deployed. The most valuable improvement in utilizing process automation is the cost savings, but we have also had cases where the customer experience is enhanced. The most valuable feature is the design studio and its ease of use.It offers assessments by way of a robotics or automation readiness assessment tool, which was quite helpful. The way you design the flow and configure the activities for the bot is very useful if you are working with any of the BPM or local platforms. If there is a task that Blue Prism cannot do out of the box, Blue Prism provides me the facility of designing one and integrating it into the application. This process is called Visual Basic Objects.

The ease of building automation and the development environmentAbility to see the blueprint of the design executed alongside the actual process. This solution comes with a lot of good features. The user performance is the most valuable feature.I would say that the stability of Blue Prism is superior to any of the competing products because of the maintainability of the features and the openness of the tool.Once it does the monitor, it collects the respective data and creates an output that is required for reconfiguration. The product itself is quite mature. The most valuable feature of Blue Prism's Virtual Workforce is that it is quite stable.

Cons
Version 11 is a bit heavy. At times, it takes a toll on the computing resources. It consumes a lot for computing power. We have seen multiple instances where computers or the client has crashed because of this particular problem. Automation Anywhere can improve this a lot.MetaBot still needs to be optimized, though Version 11.3 did integrate all the commands into it. We are not able to see all the lines of code which are executed in MetaBot.Our current version needs drag and drop, but that should be in the next release. We need more commands for PDF integration to make it more flexible.Better use case management to prevent each development from scratch would be an improvement.Because we are very new to our process, so we're still sort of working through it.I would like a couple more features where I can talk and the line comes up automatically. I can just put on a mic, like in "Ok Google". With "Ok Google", I can tell it to please open an Excel spreadsheet with the header read. If this is there, then I don't even need to sit on a computer, I can just dictate my commands and it will automatically come up.We have in-house, a few variables, which we use from technical perspectives. We don't have them in Automation Anywhere, but they introduced them yesterday.

They cannot do assisted automation. That is a drawback because that technology is very old now.I would like to see the vendor improve the efficiency of Blue Prism interaction with applications. We would like to see intelligent process automation that integrates RPA and machine learning. We would like to see some desktop automation, although we have been told that the product is not going to be taken in that direction.A feature that I would like to see in the next release is the ability to easily call on the robots to fulfill part of the process, and be run by the users in the business, where the robot can simply be activated rather than running mass processes from a control room. This solution is lacking attended automation, which is the worst thing about this solution.I would like to see wider integration with other products.I believe that there could be more community support, or there could be more support for developers like us from Blue Prism. Blue Prism provides a lot of documentation, but there is a lack of support.

Lacking advance features like CIO and optical character recognitionThere's a need to deal with unstructured input with RPA.Selecting the right business processes that are stable enough to automate can be challenging. The cost is a bit high. Other tools are much cheaper.Blue Prism is slightly difficult for the non-technical user. The main issue is screen scraping with Blue Prism gives us a big challenge because we need to define which technologies are web-based have been built instead of by itself discovering the technology that it is built on.The pricing of the solution could be improved. It's a bit expensive right now. They should work to make it more competitive.Several things need improvement, like ease-of-use, adding tended robots, adding process recording, and updating the look and feel so it seems modern.

Pricing and Cost Advice
Costs savings have been seen by employing bots for multiple shifts instead of people. If we talk about the automation RPA. it definitely has worked very well for us. I'm talking about giving good savings, about more than 180 FTE savings, after implementing more than 200 plus bots. It has worked well. As an organization, it has supported us very well, and also for our customers. It saves on the quality of work, because the quality can be bad when somebody's doing it. If a bot does the work, it's faster and comes with good quality. These are two important things along with the cost saving in the long run. That's where the value is.We have seen ROI on one of the process, but not on the other processes yet.The licensing cost is approximately $4,000 USD, which is a seed license. The certifications are free of cost. There are a lot of savings in terms of effort and time as well as costs. Automation Anywhere automates a lot of processes. It allows an organization to save the efforts of a lot people. It saves a lot of time because people can't work a whole day (24/7), but Automation Anywhere bots can.We are interested in saving manual engineer man-hours. So far, we have saved $100,000.

Compared to other tools on the market, it is one of the most expensive.Other than your infrastructure, in terms of servers that you have to set up, I don't think that there are any costs in addition to the standard licensing fees.We really don't bear the costs. The cost is borne by the customer. It runs into about $100,000 per year per customer for Blue Prism. We normally budget around $30,000 for the first year for the hardware, setup, and people cost.Blue Prism is pretty steep compared to the others, much more than Automation Anywhere.

Annual licensing costs were somewhere between $5,000 - $10,000 for the development tool. For the control tower, I think fees were about $50,000 annually. There are many RPA solutions available from different vendors and the pricing for Blue Prism is competitive. We pay about $15,000 per quarter in licensing costs. We don't have to pay for any other extra costs. There isn't, for example, an extra cost for technical support. We just pay the licensing. The licensing structure is complex and the minimum contract length is three years.Pricing can be negotiated in situations where there will be heavy usage.
