We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It has helped with compliance. It has helped to ensure that devices comply with the organization's policy. If they are not compliant and secure, they cannot access the resources.""The most valuable feature is the policy CSPs.""I like the group policy management feature, which performs application monitoring and device enrollment.""Compliance and the policies that can be set are the most valuable features.""Intune can wipe devices. For example, if a disgruntled employee wants to leak the data on their company phone, Intune can terminate their access and wipe the entire device with a click.""The biggest thing for us is enforcing logins only from devices that are managed by Intune.""The stability is good.""Technical support, in general, has been quite helpful."

"BMC support is great. They usually can answer any of our questions in a short amount of time and solve our most complex issues.""The most valuable feature is its ability to remediate quickly and efficiently across a number of IT assets at the same time. It takes away manual efforts from the team to go out and fix those vulnerabilities through patching, conflict updates, etc.""It gives us more speed to deliver services and applications, and we rely on security.""The most important feature is the schedulings.""BladeLogic lets users view the filesystem with minimal authorization to the server.""It makes deployment easier and allows us to put restrictions on the server using role-based authorization.""Server Automation's best feature is automated patching. It also helps us automate compliance and report generation. We can even integrate TrueSight Server Automation with a vulnerability management solution to remedy vulnerabilities by applying patches, deploying scripts, or changing registry entries.""The solution is stable."

More BMC TrueSight Server Automation Pros →

"The most valuable features are the agent, high load balancing, and overall robustness and features.""Puppet3 and 4 series provides optimum deployment solutions for infrastructure and applications.""The versatility is great.""Puppet Enterprise has good functionalities.""Puppet Enterprise is a stable solution.""Anything that we manage through Puppet always runs perfectly.""The main purpose for this automation tool would be: deploying, controlling, ordering change for the system and IT Infrastructure.""Puppet Enterprise has reduced the time of production changes or environment changes."

Cons
"There are items that require improvements. One is the controls from iOS.""For an existing customer who has an SCCM, it would need to be upgraded to an MECM first before I can introduce Microsoft Intune.""Some enrollment features could be improved.""The solution could be improved by the opportunity to connect third-party application databases, such as Chocolatey or another setup store, to Intune.""While Intune works perfectly well, the only potential downside is that the deployment could be a bit complex for some users.""There's quite a lot of development that they can do within their Intune dashboard. I think there are too many lines hyperlinked to move you around. Others, in contrast, give you a simple dashboard and an intuitive administrative walkthrough.""The installation could be improved to be simplified.""It's the granularity: 'Is your firewall on? Is BitLocker on?' It's not amazing granularity. But I've looked into other products, like Duo, and they're all similar."

More Microsoft Intune Cons →

"TrueSight falls short when we are trying to gather large amounts of data from multiple servers. We need to do these tasks manually because there is no option to populate the data and export it to Excel, which is required. For example, let's say I'm trying to find out how many patches are missing on the servers and which ones have been installed. It's hard to automatically pull each server's data in an Excel format.""BMC TrueSight Server Automation's scripting needs improvement.""There is no option to see all the servers we patch and we cannot find what the server status is. Of course, we can what has been completed and what is pending and which servers have failed, but we cannot find server status from the BMC tool. For example, is the RDP up or not. We are using separate scripts for that.""Without any knowledge of the product, we used the KB articles to start working. As a result, we definitely did not have full knowledge of BMC BladeLogic... They need to provide a minimum of knowledge with training on YouTube or somewhere else.""The setup of this suite is very complicated. It needs to be simplified.""Another area for improvement is group scheduling if I'm trying to do all the servers. For example, if I want to do all the 2012 Servers - since the patches are the same for all of them - I can't do so.""We encountered some reporting issues. Also, we needed to gather information from the backend before the product execution. The output's format is not good.""There is no other functionality available to patch the containers that we need to include."

More BMC TrueSight Server Automation Cons →

"It's a bit of a pain point to make sure that everything works once we've upgraded it because Puppet has been evolving pretty fast.""There's a lot of scope for enhancement on the DevSecOps side. They should definitely include features for compliance, for both the Linux and Windows side of the devices, as well as for network devices. Compliance is something they need to work on.""We would like Puppet to add more integration for applications.""The solution has really complex code, you have to understand the Ruby language. However, once you know the code then you can move ahead without any problems.""Puppet Enterprise should improve the general extensibility for places where they can't install it.""Puppet Enterprise is more complex and difficult to configure.""At the beginning the initial setup was kind of complex."

    Reviews from Real Users

Microsoft Intune stands out among its competitors for a number of reasons. Two major ones are its ability to secure all devices under its management and the flexibility that the solution offers its users.

A computing services manager notes, "Its security is most valuable. It gives us a way to secure devices, not only those that are steady. We do have a few tablets and other devices, and it is a way for us to secure these devices and manage them. We know they're out there and what's their status. We can manage their life cycle and verify that they're updated properly."

The head of IT engineering at a financial services company writes, "The one feature we find most useful is the Mobile Application Manager. There are two types: we have the complete MDM and the Mobile Application Manager (MAM). We don't give our users phones, it is their own personal phone, and we need to allow them to have access to the company details on their phone. We need to create a balance between their own personal data and the company data. We deploy the Mobile Application Manager for them so that we won't be able to interfere with their own personal data."
