We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The tool helps us understand network performance.""My sales representative, I would not trade him in for the world. He has done a really good job. I am really happy with him.""The out-of-the-box dashboards are valuable, in terms of being able to visualize performance data in ways that we haven't in the past.""It gave us one location, one place to do all of group administration, and to build dashboards, and device administration, inventory counts... it really reduced our overall administrative overhead.""It can be easily integrated with other systems and is powerful enough to collect data from a large number of devices.""There is another component of the tool called Network Flow Analysis. It gives us the ability to troubleshoot issues which do not appear right away.""One of the most valuable features is the ease of use.""One feature I like about CA Performance Management is the certification of the devices."

"The most valuable feature in this solution is the log searching.""The solution's basic visibility is one of its most valuable features. So, it is a solution that is easy to use...The solution's initial setup process was straightforward.""The Add data feature lets you gather any type of log and easily analyze it.""We haven't really experienced any glitches or bugs.""Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring gives us complete visibility without the need for storage.""The alerts are the most valuable feature.""The feature I find most valuable, is the data integration.""The features I have found most valuable are log searching and log analytics, both of which are quick features."

Cons
"DX Performance Management should increase high availability. If one of my two data centers goes offline and the other is operational, I need a seamless transition from the primary to the secondary data center. It's crucial to maintain consistent monitoring of the devices during this transition. Therefore, I require continuous, 24/7 monitoring of my system using this tool.""CA PM can be complex to build and configure. Creating the folders / groups / sites required establishing many rule sets.""This tool gathers so much data, which makes it hard to convert over. To upgrade it, you really need the solution backed up. That is the issue that we are facing right now.""It could be a little easier to integrate new metrics.""Install is done as root, which is a security no-no, and the database IO requirements were not stated correctly, which lead to a year of instability.""There are some areas in the technology right now, like with VMs, where we are lacking with our abilities to get inside the VM to monitor traffic within the machine.""I would like to have more tasks, graphs, and possibilities for linking to the graphs and reports added to the solution.""This solution's implementation process could be quicker. They could also optimize the hardware requirements."

"Splunk would be better if some tools were integrated to be able to take action on security or network concerns.""The cost needs to be re-examined. It's extremely expensive to run. It's also expensive to expand. That's the number one complaint all of my customers have when it comes to Splunk. It's way too expensive compared to other solutions.""There is a lot of room for improvement with the automation.""The clustering part of indexes can be more refined.""A lot of customers had a hard time effectively searching within the data in Splunk. There is a learning curve from searches to indexes and using all the macros that we have created. It is a little difficult for somebody who has not used it quite a bit and does not have a lot of practice with it, but the AI features that we have been hearing about through Splunk will make it a lot easier for us to use human language to search this data. That is big. That is pretty powerful, and that will help a lot with our customers.""The deployment can be quite complex.""We have both on-prem and cloud, and the challenge is getting all our log data aggregated or streams aggregated so that it is real-time. We do a pretty good job of that, but our organization is not using it as a security platform when it can do a great job of that.""The product collects a lot of data but it does not assure that it collects all of it."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "We were looking at other vendors in the marketplace for NetFlow, and CA just beat everybody else in price, cost, and the size to implement. "
  • "Do your homework and know how many devices you will be managing out of the gate. Be sure to project what your growth will be each year."
  • "They should provide more scalable licensing for the product."
  • "I like the licensing model because it's device-based."
  • "We purchase a license to use the solution every three years and we have multiple contracts. They have been increasing the price annually. We have a baseline for three years and then we need to pay the difference from the baseline, and we are in the process of negotiating a new price for all the licenses we need. The price overall is affordable."
  • "The tool's pricing is based on the number of network devices."

  • "The product is a bit expensive considering the competition but the company may negotiate the price."
  • "This is an expensive solution."
  • "The solution's pricing is competitive. I rate the solution's pricing a seven out of ten. The price of the solution could be cheaper."
  • "Splunk has been fairly expensive, but it has been predictable."
  • "I would rate the price of Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring as an eight out of ten, with ten being the most expensive."
  • "I am not in that circle, but we are currently licensing based on our queries. That is working out for us. Previously, it was by volume of data, and now, we can store as much data as we want."
  • "It is expensive."
