We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"I think the pricing is quite fair because this solution provides a lot of functionalities, and is quite stable.""CA Service Virtualization has helped us advance the development cycle when third-party interfaces are not available to us.""It's got probably the greatest amount of features, in terms of different technologies that you can automate and virtualize, out of any of the solutions out there.""You can have a lot of different people with different technologies use the tool, without any programming experience at all, all the way up to people who can program. And then, the more technical that you are, the more programming you have, the more you're able to customize the tool.""Easy to understand ways of creating stubs.""We have been using it extensively for the shift left process and testing. It helps us to accelerate and virtualize services and assets that we don't have. It enables to test faster.""Scalability has actually worked well and we are able to bring it to multiple environments.""Ability to vary the responses very easily (randomize, pick-lists, etc.)."

"The most valuable features would be the image recognition and the OCR.""The features that we like the most are the developer interface and the ability to quickly develop and deploy tests.""The solution is based on a Windows model, where adding users is just a few clicks. It is easy to manage users and add them.""GUI testing is the strength of the tool. The tool works as expected, and the support response from eggPlant, as a company, has been quick and substantial.""It is easy to set up.""DAI's newest release allows us to test via scripts rather than models, because we have done 95 percent of our development in functional, not through modeling. I am really happy that then we can use the controller to run scripts rather than having to translate things to models. There are lots of options.""The main feature of Eggplant Test is that it can do fully automated web testing and app testing.""Its scalability is good. It is useful for desktop applications, and it also uses OCR and does image recognition."

Cons
"I would like to have more flexibility towards the mainframe virtualization and also in JDBC virtualization.""Needs some additional lightweight, portable elements.""The cost is an area that needs improvement. There are a couple of other tools which provide support for performance testing with the base version itself, but Broadcom needs a separate component to support virtualization for performance testing. This is a costly component.""It is not a stable solution.""DevTest is pretty massive. It's hard to tell what different parts of it can be used to do different things. They should modulize it more.""We had to implement an external service catalog. We put it in ServiceNow. I would like to see an integrated service catalog.""More examples of portal-based virtualization.""I would rate the tech support a nine out of ten. They need more knowledge about the connectivity to DevOps orchestration."

"In terms of additional features, it would be helpful to have one package for all testing. You have the manager, the AI, then you have functional, and about 10 different packages for installing.""I would like to see standardized actions already built into Eggplant. For example, "wait eight seconds". That way, I wouldn't need to create it as an action. Right now, I have to program that wait and describe it as an action so that everybody knows it is an action that waits eight seconds... That way, somebody who is not familiar with programming processes like "if-else", or "for", or "while", would be able, from the first moment, and without programming, to put some easy-to-use, standardized, actions in place.""The solution would crash from time to time.""We found that we had issues regarding the VPN setup, which is one of the reasons that we did not purchase this solution.""If one area could be improved, it would be some of their documentation. In particular, some of their online help and user support documentation is a little bit out of date and could be revised and updated on a more frequent basis. Other than that, I haven't really found any issues or problems.""It has low productivity.""There was no free trial in it.""Eggplant Digital Automation Intelligence could improve by lowering the price."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I think the pricing is quite fair because this solution provides a lot of functionalities, and is quite stable."
  • "There are additional fees for advanced-level technical support."
  • "I don't have the exact dollar amount, but we have spent close to $1,000,000 for a three-year agreement, for an enterprise level."
  • "There is a yearly licensing cost, and I would give it a four out of five."

  • "It is scalable, but it is a matter of money in the pocket. You can scale it, but then you have to have additional licenses. The licensing approach of eggPlant is not the best."
  • "Make a smart decision about the number of developer- and execution-only licenses you purchase to maximize your budget. We found that going heavier on execution-only licenses has been a way to reduce our costs and maximize our ability to benefit from the software."
  • "End-to-end testing isn't possible for us because of the licensing problems. It's very expensive, so we only have two development/execution licenses."
  • "It probably has a yearly license."
  • "This solution is expensive when compared to the market. However, the reason it is more expensive is because of its stability, high performance, and for its support of any technology."
  • "Eggplant Test is a very expensive solution."

    Overview

CA Service Virtualization acts as a catalyst for DevOps by simulating constrained or unavailable systems across the software development lifecycle (SDLC). This allows developers, testers and performance teams to work in parallel to accelerate app delivery, as well as to “shift-left” the app testing to improve application quality. CA Service Virtualization was previously known as LISA, the product from the ITKO acquisition.

Across every industry, digital transformation is top of mind. New methods of developing software are driving fast change, and test teams are feeling the pressure. Increasing demand to release faster while maintaining the highest levels of quality is making the testing process more complex and harder to scale.

With AI-powered testing, Eggplant’s test and automation intelligence delivers the coverage you need to optimize the user experience, speed up release cycles, and improve your quality assurance process. Discover a fast, secure, and easy-to-use solution that tests any kind of software on any platform or device.
