Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It's easy to push out across numerous servers. Very scalable.""The benefit is easy installation. Thus, the model approach of the product and out-of-the-box probes, which deliver direct value.""I can use the Drag and Drop feature to build dashboards within minutes.""MultiWAN and Balance service""I recall the initial setup being straightforward.""The feature that we've found to be very helpful is the way the solution categorizes the devices to identify groups, groups of devices and clusters. This allows us to be aware of their position within the topology.""You can scale it pretty much however way you want to as long as you have the servers to throw at it.""Probe packages and probe deployment."

"Tanium's most valuable feature is its instant discovery aspect.""The security features are very valuable.""I like the tool's incident response and security patching.""The solution is scalable and helps to understand how infrastructure works. It helps to improve the health of the organization.""I would say Tanium is the best tool for vulnerability management.""Tanium's most valuable features are patch management, inventory, and distribution software.""Tanium’s linear-chain architecture is valuable.""The product is granular and can build complex roles compared to other EDR vendors."

Cons
"We want to see more investment in the UI and the dashboard.""We've had issues with pulling reports.""In the UMP, certain devices will show up multiple times and they don't correlate correctly. That's one of the issues.""There should be wider coverage of storage infrastructure.""We would like the navigation of this solution to be more user friendly for our system administrators.""The other element is that there are no real templates, out of the box. Let's go with an example where we do have the probe, which is great, and we do have a really nuanced customer with a small set of devices that maybe not a lot of other customers use. There might not be a template in place, so effectively we have the tool in front of us but we still need to develop a solution. So it would be really nice to see a little bit more of something like a central repository of templates that we could use. That would help us expedite our onboarding process.""How we can get more native information from CA's solutions.""The dashboards need to be improved."

"The reporting could be improved.""They could improve the UI.""Most of the time, agent-relative issues have to be more equipped with self-healing features. At times, the agent is there, but for some reason, it doesn't report a status. It gives certain problems that are obviously agent-based.""I would like to have more integrations and custom plugins to input. Integration is always a big deal in a lot of different environments.""The most painful thing is the interface. It's a bit unclear sometimes.""We had some issues with the solution's OS upgrade.""The main issues are the network connection because different customers have issues with their networks. It's difficult implementing this type of solution because the network is the main feature in the architecture for these types of solutions. Tanium could improve by creating some network optimization.""It is not really additional functions, or the features that are needed, rather the complexity would be reduced based on the number of modules required to put together a comprehensive operational security and risk compliance model."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "This product is expensive compared to other vendors (SolarWinds, ManageEngine)."
  • "The product-price ratio is better than other brands such as Fortinet or SonicWall."
  • "The license cost depends on the number of probes and robots."
  • "Reasonable setup cost and licensing prices."
  • "CAD $400,000 annually."
  • "Customers pay for the license and the support."
  • "Pricing for DX Unified Infrastructure Management isn't cheap at all. It's a complex tool, so you have to pay more. No one is happy with a large bill to pay, but if it's a complex product and you designed a complex solution to be monitored, it'll be your fault that you need to buy an expensive product, and that would be implicit in the design of DX Unified Infrastructure Management. Monitoring is just a small part of it. Sometimes you have to pay a significant amount of money for a complex yet very good solution."
