Q&A Highlights
Question: Which is better - Signavio Process Manager or Celonis?
Answer: SAP Signavio Process Manager is a very robust industrial-grade business process modeling tool. It is easy to use and does not require too much technological involvement. This solution has a collaboration tool that keeps everyone up-to-date about what, why, and how to work. The workflow accelerator can automate repetitive work, ensuring teams can be more productive over time. The reporting on this solution can be slow, though, and SAP Signavio does not integrate very well with other solutions. We experienced some downtime and dropped connections, which makes the stability seem problematic. It would be better if it was more flexible on the customization point of view, where it displays only what the individual user needs to see. There needs to be a better way to give users correct permissions, eg. whether to design or view. Celonis is a very strong and powerful solution. It can process a large amount of data quickly and seamlessly. This solution is very intuitive and very easy to use. Celonis has a data mining tool that can identify cost differentials. It will also gather background data from different solutions and put it into the dashboard to review the price differences from previous seasons. Celonis can be very rigid and we would like it to be more flexible - it has some very strong structures that must be followed. The licensing model can be complex too. You need to have a lot of knowledge and skill to work with this solution. It really should allow for more customization to ease the process of working with multiple solutions. Conclusion Celonis is very specific to process mining and that is what it is best used for. You need to have a knowledgeable team, as this solution can be very tough to implement. It can also be very expensive. We were looking for a solution that was easy to use, was cost-effective for the size of our enterprise, and had a great performance. SAP Signavio Process Manager was the best fit for us.

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Automated root cause analysis and process explorer features are very good. It provides a lot of selections, such as process flow selection, attribute selection, etc.""The process chart is valuable in identifying the bottlenecks.""The documentation, multi-hop analysis, and SLA breaches are the most valuable features we have discovered.""It provides seamless unified views with awesome drill down options.""Technical support is really good. For me, the sales support matters more. When I'm in a sales cycle, the Celonis sales teams are very helpful. They reach out to me from day zero.""We used to draw errors to be processed manually, and now you can get the digital information directly with the help of Celonis.""From a features perspective, the discovery and analytics parts of Celonis have been valuable, especially the analytics and all of the out-of-the-box process connectors.""Celonis is one of the best solutions on the market. It offers you a lot of training materials and exposure to its ecosystem. Celonis is trying its best to prepare an ecosystem for it because, without an ecosystem, you will not be able to scale up."

"It is a stable solution.""When comparing my experience with Celonis and Signavio, I can discern the distinctions between these two platforms. However, I'm unable to differentiate between ARAs and add-ons, as that falls outside my scope of familiarity. Regarding Celonis, it comes with its set of advantages and disadvantages. Notably, it boasts robust features like action flows, task mining, and seamless integration with AML programming. Conversely, Signavio lacks action flows and instead relies on action segments and tasks for interaction. This discrepancy is a significant factor setting Selenium and SecureView apart. In the context of Signavio, it offers a combination of BPMN and process discovery, a feature absent in Celonis. This tandem of BPMN and process insight contributes to Signavio’S potency. Meanwhile, Celonis primarily features the process miner tool, setting it apart from Signavio. These variations collectively outline the numerous differences existing between Celonis and Signavio.""Process Manager is really helpful in building process maps. Creating them is really easy; the program is user-friendly.""This functionality ("invite anyone for feedback") has substantially increased visibility over work-in-progress when it comes to process modelling and overall process management and it decreased the time spent on giving and receiving feedback through emails and through sharing screenshots/.ppt files/Visio files etc.""The collaboration function in the project views is valuable because people can comment on the processes and we can respond.""The reason we chose Signavio is it's a very robust industrial-grade business process modeling data tool, with data capture behind it, as well as a collaborative nature. A lot of it comes out of the box and requires less technology involvement. It can be run well by the business users. That's what we really like about it.""The benefit of this application is that I can immediately describe processes and form normative documents for these processes. For me, this is definitely a plus. Сurrently, I work in a company that is not involved in the structural alignment of business processes. They have huge gaps in this. Nothing is described and there are no norms. Therefore, the formation of regulatory documents, rules, and descriptions of processes, not only in graphic form, but also in documentary form is an absolute plus. I have not found this in other process programs.""The most valuable feature is probably the nature of it."

Cons
"The pricing policy is not affordable in Ukraine.""They need to provide readymade value stream mapping.""For example, we would like to see improvement of the simulation capabilities to include a BPMN-compliant modeler. That is, we would like to be able to connect the simulation to the BPMN modeler. I think it's one of the features that is missing in Celonis.""Another area of improvement is implementation. So, in future releases, I would like to see a more streamlined implementation process would be appreciated, making it less time-consuming and more efficient.""The solution needs to implement more automation aspects into the product. Right now, it's lacking.""The marketplace should offer process connectors for Oracle JDEdwards, and Peoplesoft.""Essentially, the solution should allow for more plug and play instead of requiring a person to be adept at a certain level in coding and developing.""The solution must be more user-friendly."

More Celonis Cons →

"Its reporting feature could have customization options.""I would like to see more integration with the process manager in terms of the workflow accelerator.""The tool's navigation could be improved.""I think the biggest selling point that Signavio talks about is its collaborative aspect. However, there's still a lot more improvement in terms of what they can do, how they receive comments, address comments, whether they actually provide feedback, etc. There is still a little bit more improvement to be made on those areas.""I would like to be able to include images in the documentation.""I would like to see more predictive analytics. The tool already has all the process maps, but it could offer a more proactive improvement offering. For example, they could put a little bit more machine learning behind it.""There is always room for improvement is the capability of integration with other solutions.""The solution is complex."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It is quite a significant investment. From a cost perspective, they need to reevaluate the licensing model. The cost is justified, but they need to make the licensing model slightly different."
  • "Evaluating the price of the solution can be a difficult question. It is all about the business case and the return of the investments. That is typically how we also see this type of solution. It depends very much on the return. The entry-level is focused on enterprise size companies, for the SMB segment is it is out of their range. It is definitely expensive."
  • "I was not involved in that, but I am sure it was cost-effective for them. That's why they made the decision to take it."
  • "The cost of the software for us or the client is on the higher end."
  • "The solution requires an annual license. There is room for improvement because it is priced for organizations and not for individuals. For an individual, it would be too expensive for them to use it."
  • "Celonis is expensive. It's not for mid or low-sized enterprises because the license price is high. Overall, it's quite pricey compared to anything else that I have heard about. But the good thing is that they don't charge per user. They charge for the data model."
  • "Celonis offers free learning possibilities. I am using the free version of Celonis."
  • "It is an expensive solution."

  • "Lower than the competition with highly flexible licensing plans."
  • "My client purchased one editor license and the collaboration hub, which covers up to a hundred people."
  • "I think that the price of the licenses is between $2,000 USD and $3,000 USD per license per year, plus the hub usage. I cannot remember the exact cost, but it is affordable."
  • "I think we're spending about $150,000 a year on licensing costs."
  • "SaaS has no setup cost, just licensing fees."
  • "This solution provides really great value for the money."
  • "We are only able to use the free academic licenses because we have a financial constraint. We are not able to pay for commercial licenses to use this kind of tool."
  • "Although Signavio is a feature-rich solution, it is expensive for companies who haven’t reached a certain maturity level in their process management initiatives."
