We performed a comparison between Check Point IPS and KerioControl based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Intrusion Detection and Prevention Software (IDPS) solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The product's initial setup is easy."
"User-friendly and easy to implement."
"We are able to define our own rules for detection."
"The most valuable feature is that it protects us against hundreds of different attack vectors, like ransomware. The protection is always being triggered. People try to access websites that are categorized as malware, so when the users do a DNS request for the IP of those malware websites, the IPS Blade replaces the real IP of the website that is malware with a bogus IP. The user gets an IP that doesn't exist and when he tries to access, it won't work."
"IPS can protect our organization with any old vulnerabilities or if any vulnerability detected minutes ago IPS can protect us as per our configured policy."
"The possibility of customizing the rules is great."
"I can generate reports for management automatically based on the threats of the last day/week/whatever is needed."
"What I like best about Check Point IPS is that it can prevent attacks. I also like that it has a log feature."
"I did not face any issues with stability while using the tool's trial version."
"The firewall and intrusion detection features are good. It has blocked certain things. We have a lot of blocked sites that the staff or anyone using it, the public, etc., can't go on. It works for that. I get quite a few messages every now and again, saying that a virus has been detected and I can go in and block the user who's causing the problem."
"Kerio Control can be scaled easily."
"The solution provides feasibility regarding cyber privacy."
"Kerio has improved my organization's security."
"Technical support is good. They respond right away."
"It has helped our organization with testing."
"The initial setup is a breeze."
"It is generally good, but improving the performance would be the one thing I'd take a look at right now."
"The hardware-based version of Check Point IPS could be more scalable. Right now, it's not scalable."
"Having additional reports available would be helpful."
"There is a performance impact on the NGFW post-enabling the IPS blade/Module, which can even lead to downtime if IPS starts to monitor or block high-volume traffic."
"I am not aware of a preview channel or some repository to have a preview on upcoming signatures, however, this would be nice to have."
"Setting up Check Point IPS isn't easy, but it's not too complex, either. I rate it seven out of 10 for ease of setup. Generally, customers cannot do it themselves. They need an integrator."
"When entering, it always takes a long time to load."
"This is an expensive solution, higher than other products on the market."
"The solution should offer more dashboards."
"They should improve the remote connectivity feature for users."
"The comprehensiveness of the security features could be improved upon. However, for the most part, it is pretty good. They could add more logs. I would like to see more detailed reporting, custom reporting from the logs, and more of a streamlined interface for certain aspects."
"The VPN features are the ones that we really like, but we are using a VPN client to be able to use them. We would like to have an SSL implementation for this same feature so we don't need to install anything on the client side. That's a feature I really miss and that should really be embedded in the product. We really would love to use it via a web browser."
"Their support is getting better but still needs improvement."
"If I would suggest anything, it would be to expand on its multifactor authentication to be a little bit more user-friendly. They should do multifactor authentications for the client itself perhaps, rather than served on a webpage, in a page hijack, that might be more user-friendly, but I don't have a lot of complaints about it. It's doing its job. You have to have a certain amount of skills to configure these things anyway, the ones that we use on-site doing point-to-point, and we've been tricked up a few times with their interfaces."
"I would like to see them develop a bit more flexibility creating VLANs."
"Improvements are needed to the Next Generation Firewall Protection, specifically with user-level protection."
