Pros
The user interface is really modern. As an end-user, there are a lot of possibilities to tailor the platform to your needs, and that can be done without needing much support from Devo. It's really flexible and modular. The UI is very clean. One of the biggest features of the UI is that you see the actual code of what you're doing in the graphical user interface, in a little window on the side. Whatever you're doing, you see the code, what's happening. And you can really quickly switch between using the GUI and using the code. That's really useful.Even if it's a relatively technical tool or platform, it's very intuitive and graphical. It's very appealing in terms of the user interface. The UI has a graphically interface with the raw data in a table. The table can be as big as you want it, depending on your use case. You can easily get a report combining your data, along with calculations and graphical dashboards. You don't need a lot of training, because the UI is relatively very intuitive.Being able to build and modify dashboards on the fly with Activeboards streamlines my analyst time because my analysts aren't doing it across spreadsheets or five different tools to try to build a timeline out themselves. They can just ingest it all, build a timeline out across all the logging, and all the different information sources in one dashboard. So, it's a huge time saver. It also has the accuracy of being able to look at all those data sources in one view. The log analysis, which would take 40 hours, we can probably get through it in about five to eight hours using Devo.

As the security administrator, who is responsible for the day-to-day tasks (e.g. creating new firewall rules, monitoring the security alerts and incidents etc.) and the maintenance (e.g. installing the new Jumbo Hotfixes), I find the Check Point Security Management R80.10 to be the great solution.I love the URL filtering as well as the identification capabilities which link with the Active Directory and work for me even with bandwidth regulation. These allow me to select to whom to do what, and when. The additional features offered by the solution are excellent. We didn't have a lot fo these on a previous solution, and they've proven to be an advantage for us.It's a great solution for management. We can manage a lot at the same time with one security management system. Also, each gateway depends on the other, which is helpful. The firewall's blades are the solution's most valuable feature.

The log analysis and reporting are both quite good. The most valuable features are customizing reports, and the ability to drill down to display critical information in real-time.The program is stable and it gives me great visibility. It has a simplified and user-friendly interface. It is a simple and solution. The IBS (Intent Based Segmentation) and application web filtering are the most valuable aspects of the solution. The feature I find most useful is the handy dashboard. We use this functionality every day, and obtain reports on things like how many people are using the VPN, which websites are being accessed, and whether hackers are trying to penetrate into our network.

Cons
The Activeboards feature is not as mature regarding the look and feel. Its functionality is mature, but the look and feel is not there. For example, if you have some data sets and are trying to get some graphics, you cannot change anything. There's just one format for the graphics. You cannot change the size of the font, the font itself, etc. There's always room to reduce the learning curve over how to deal with events and machine data. They could make the machine data simpler.Their documentation could be better. They are growing quickly and need to have someone focused on tech writing to ensure that all the different updates, how to use them, and all the new features and functionality are properly documented.

I like that the Compliance software blade is available for free with the Security Management server purchase, but it is free for only one year - after that you have to buy an additional license to continue using it. I think such an important feature is vital for the management server, and should not be licensed separately. In future releases I'd like to see better integration with other applications and solutions. Also, the cost of the license is too high, it's too expensive. The reporting should be improved in future releases. It needs to be very explicit. This is very important. In the last version from 80.20, there are some issues around SSNA Diction. I would like this to be improved. We sometimes have trouble with the performance of the solution. Maybe some performance tuning options could be added in a future release. There should be more visibility about which blade in your firewall is causing the latency.

The solution lacks business intelligence features. It's much too basic. The reports are good, but they are over-summarized.The technical support is not very good. When it comes to pushing logs to a SIEM, most of the time we have some issues when it comes to filtering.I'm looking for something more efficient to analyze different foreign things. That's why FortiSIEM could compete with FortiAnalyzer. The solution could use more graphics and be more specific in the dashboard. This way, I'm able to understand everything and effectively understand what's going on, including what's incoming and outgoing. Right now, I have to look up everything. I need a dashboard so that I can see specific items right there in one place.I would like to see an improvement in the technical support. Stronger authentication will also be a plus. When somebody is new to the system they find it difficult to perform certain operations, like backups, and to see where the reports are.

Pricing and Cost Advice
I'm not involved in the financial aspect, but I think the licensing costs are similar to other solutions. If all the solutions have a similar cost, Devo provides more for the money. We have an OEM agreement with Devo. It is very similar to the standard licensing agreement because we are charged in the same way as any other customer, e.g., we use the backroom. It's a per gigabyte cost for ingestion of data. For every gigabyte that you ingest, it's whatever you negotiated your price for. Compared to other contracts that we've had for cloud providers, it's significantly less.

Information Not Available
The pricing of this solution is fair, and it is based on what you can manage. The program is expensive. The price is quite expensive. Fortinet products are very expensive. That is something which they should also look at, because if you compare Fortinet product to, say, Sophos for example, Fortinet is really high and that's the only thing which is a drawback for most users. We have around 12 devices and yearly we spend approximately $14,000.All Fortinet programs come at a good price. We have several products including Fortinet Wireless, FortiGate Firewalls, and FortiAnalyzer, which are bundled together and cost approximately $50,000 USD annually.
