Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"SSL-VPN is very useful for us and has been very reliable.""It has very easy management and an amazing ETM configuration.""We can use our devices to check all of the perimeters. It secures email websites.""I'm pretty happy with its reliability. It is also very scalable.""The UTM feature is quite good. FortiAP is easy to deploy because both Fortigate and FortiAP are under the same brand. Otherwise, you need to do more work on the configuration.""We use a lot of function on the IPS and it works well for us.""Whenever I need something, Fortinet improves and updates the software for me.""The most valuable feature is the SSL VPN, as it allows us to connect and it separates this product from other firewalls."

More Fortinet FortiGate Pros →

"The databases and its signatures are its most important features.""It safeguards against cyber attacks.""The solution is very robust.""We can create a domain to separate and segregate some functions, some services.""The most outstanding feature is being able to centralize each of the functions in a single device.""It provides visibility and drives organizational security.""The filtering was very good.""The UTM platform has been the most valuable."

"The solution is easy to manage. Kerio Control is unique compared to other firewalls because it has been around since 2000 when we switched and the name it started with was WinRoute, and then later became Kerio Control. It evolved over time and it is more of a proprietary firewall on its own and has been developed through open source.""It prevents people from visiting undesirable sites and ensures that they use the internet for their designated jobs.""The reporting needs to be improved. It is hard to get a domain.""The stability of Kerio Control is good.""The solution is user-friendly.""Instead of using a cloud-based product for accessing information, and putting my data at risk in the cloud and in someone else's hands, it has allowed me to use a VPN and access my data directly from a laptop when I am out in the field. That has made my life a lot easier, where I'm able to access any information I need to be able access, basically on demand, with an Internet connection. That alone has been great.""All of the features of Kerio Control are equally good. Most valuable to us are the firewall rules, the intrusion detection system, and IP address features.""The most valuable features of KerioControl are ease of configuration, user-friendliness, and comfortable to use. It is an all-in-one solution, it comes with many features, such as a firewall, antivirus software, and network protection."

Cons
"Fortinet FortiGate can be integrated with different platforms. They have integrations in place, but I can't say they're 100%.""The search tool needs improvement. It's very difficult to search for policies right now.""The support structure needs to be improved because every time we contact them, there is a delay in the response.""The setup is pretty complex and not easy to implement.""It needs more available central management.""Stability and technical support are the two major issues I have found with Fortinet.""With FortiGate, the main complaint that I have heard is about the technical support.""Their software support needs improvement. I would prefer to have better support for bug fixes. Sometimes, we open a ticket, and it is very difficult to get a solution. Specifically, we are not at all happy with their support for load balancing."

More Fortinet FortiGate Cons →

"What has been the issue of firewalls is they ask me for policies and content filtering application control and all these features that are now part of Harmony.""The interface needs improvement.""I am not able to see a demo.""As we don't have a representative of Check Point in Mozambique, this makes it very difficult when we have some issues to resolve.""Some features that could be improved are advanced threat protection, sandboxing, and vulnerability management.""Specifically on the user experience, sometimes the set up of things, such as the VPN SSL, takes a lot of time to load and a lot of time to get up and running on every session.""Technical support was very bad because the supplier who sold it to us, wasn't very supportive, and he wouldn't giving us direct links to the OEM.""The solution could be improved if there was a better way to report. The reporting functionality is not really good. Even though it's not the major function. Maybe adding a way to make a custom report."

More Check Point UTM-1 [EOL] Cons →

"We'd like to have more integrations Kerio Operator.""I would like to see them develop a bit more flexibility creating VLANs.""I would like for there to be a difference between international and national links.""They should improve the remote connectivity feature for users.""If I would suggest anything, it would be to expand on its multifactor authentication to be a little bit more user-friendly. They should do multifactor authentications for the client itself perhaps, rather than served on a webpage, in a page hijack, that might be more user-friendly, but I don't have a lot of complaints about it. It's doing its job. You have to have a certain amount of skills to configure these things anyway, the ones that we use on-site doing point-to-point, and we've been tricked up a few times with their interfaces.""When it comes to dealing with updates, there are often bugs on the solution. They should do a lot more testing before they release new versions.""Kerio Control has just improved on their biggest problem, which was to introduce better support for high-availability requirements in production.""The solution can be improved to create the capability for larger bandwidths that support our business needs."

    Reviews from Real Users

Here is some feedback from some of our users who are currently using the solution:

PeerSpot user Brian C., Senior Technology Specialist, VP at Unified Technology Solutions, writes "It is very comprehensive and simple. It has all the active protections. It's updated. We love that you can set how often it is updated so you can work on what is right for you. A large company with a lot of bandwidth can update the virus definitions and security definitions hourly, if they want. A smaller site that's remote, where maybe updating the definitions will eat into the bandwidth, we can schedule those more to go later at night. It's very flexible and works for us in all types of situations. This is great because then we don't have to learn seven different products to be able to work with seven different scenarios."

Andy D., IT Manager at Flare Technologies, praises how easy it is to use and says, "One thing we use quite a lot, as well, is the DHCP Server, because we do a lot of work where all our devices need to have static IP addresses. Rather than going around and configuring every box, we do it all through DHCP reservations. It's easier. We've got a record of it. We can manipulate it if we need to change something or change some hardware. It's all easy. Even guys who are not used to using it can pick it up quite quickly."
