Find out what your peers are saying about Netgate, Fortinet, OPNsense and others in Firewalls."It is easy to use. We chose this product for the possibility to have virtual domains (VDOMs). We are building another company in the group, and we would like to split the firewalling rules and policies between these two companies. Each company would be able to manage its own policies and security rules, which is an advantage of Fortinet FortiGate. We can define VDOMs, and every company can manage its own VDOM as if it has its own physical firewall, but in fact, we would be using the same physical appliance because we are also using the same internet lines. So, it allows us to reuse the existing resources without the disadvantage of having to compromise on policies and security. Each company can choose its own way of working."
"The CLI and GUI do a good job of putting a lot at your fingertips."
"Fortigate is very scalable to serve our customers' needs. We have scaled already from fifty to more than a hundred instances of Fortinet FortiGate. Around 20 staff are required for deployment and maintenance, mostly engineers."
"The license management is very valuable. You can get a new license each year, or you can enroll every two to four years. You can get the logs, and you will get the information on the risk in your network and the entire organization. With this information, you can take action on your actives, computers, or devices. You can bring your own device as an SSE."
"Fortinet FortiGate's most valuable features are ease of use, flexibility, and most of the configuration we can be done using the GUI. When we compare Fortinet FortiGate with other solutions the firewall policy are very easy to understand."
"The most valuable features are the possibility of having one fabric for switching on security."
"The next-generation firewall is great."
"The scalability of Fortinet FortiGate is good."
"The product gives analytic reports."
"We are using gateways, and I appreciate the high-availability gateways they have. They stand out more than the competitors."
"The SSL spectrum proved to be the most valuable for our incoming connections."
"We find Check Point valuable because they are 100% focused on security. It totally closes the potential vulnerability channel. We can check our mail and our attachments and we can scan everything easily. We get an immediate report about the situation of the attachments. We can discover if the target's security attack was started from phishing, etc. We also enjoy using the additional features that protect our internal customer from targeted attacks."
"It is scalable. It's a cloud solution, so it's easy to implement and manage."
"We consolidated from three management consoles and three clusters to only one, which is a big improvement."
"The Capsule solution and application filters are the most valuable. It is pretty straightforward to implement, and it also has good stability and scalability. Their technical support is also really good."
"The scalability is very good; again, very user-friendly. I wouldn't even say "user-friendly" because, as long as you deploy it properly, you can kill an EC2 and it will spin up another one right away, within about a minute and a half. And it will be ready for production right away."
"The solution is very easy to download and configure. The initial setup was very easy. The technical support is very good."
"Fortinet FortiGate is not very easy to use. The navigation could be improved to make it easier to use."
"In the balance between links feature normally you can just choose one option to balance. It would be better for the solution to have more than one option, preferably three."
"It could use better throughput on some of the smaller boxes for the branch offices."
"The logging details need to be improved."
"Monitoring and reporting could be better."
"Fortinet FortiGate can improve the integration with Active Directory. Additionally, I would like to have a Cloud Controller, such as they do in the Cisco Meraki solution."
"It's my understanding that more of the current generation features could be brought in. There could be more integration with EDRs, for example."
"The initial setup and configuration are not intuitive and require training."
"Its price is fair, but it can be more favorable."
"The product needs to improve technical support."
"CloudGuard Network Security could be improved in the area of upgrading in place."
"We miss full blade support for all blades that are compatible with the cluster. Especially notable is the lack of support for Identity Awareness in active standby environments for customers. In our setup, transitioning to Connective clusters would be preferable for maintaining connections during failover situations."
"The solution lacks the capability to scale effectively."
"The user interface can be improved."
"I would like to see more focus on east-west traffic inspection and AWS."
"The solution needs to improve the interruptions that happen during gateway upgrades."
"The solution needs more granular level reporting on system usage."
