We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
The most valuable feature is the performance. The layer-2 switching is very fast. The hardware is rugged. We use it for the basic configuration. The solution is compatible with many brands, such as VMware. The command-line interface is easy to use.The quality, like all Cisco solutions, is very high. The fact that it's Cisco is one of the reasons we chose to use it.One valuable feature is that you can string a number of switches together, and the fact that there are various methods to connect them, such as by stacking. The queue functionality is the solution's most valuable feature, specifically because we are delivering a lot of Layer 2 services. I also like that it can synchronize on the alternate configuration of products together at the same time.Huawei Ethernet switches are easy to use and can be managed using either the GUI or via the command-line.The HTTP features for security are very good. We use all of the regular features. They have the ability, since they have a very big R&D team, to create an upgrade for any feature or patch very easily.

Cons
Cisco needs to include new features to attract new customers.I would like to see this solution automatically store multiple versions of the configuration file. We've had hardware problems like SSDs, ports, networking, things like that. The price could be lower. It's quite expensive. The licensing needs to be improved.Cisco has a licensing procedure that is very complicated and it changes every six months.Switches should be made stackable, even if they are not of the same model. The solution needs to work on lowering the amount of bugs. We find them quite regularly.

Dashboard could be improved. The technical support is a bit difficult to work with if you don't speak Mandarin. The knowledge base needs to be improved and expanded. It could potentially be difficult to get parts depending on where you live. The availability and the speed of the firmware updates are the only things wrong with Huawei. There are some vulnerabilities on the hardware. There needs to be more documentation. If they opened up a bit and shared more information and maybe allowed for YouTube videos about their products and how to work them, it would benefit the users quite a bit.In the next release, I would like to see an increase in the performance of DDoS protection systems against all kinds of attack packets. One of the problems with Huawei is that when you receive a product quote from one of the vendors, you cannot get prices from the other ones because they register your request with Huawei.
