Pros
The most valuable feature is the performance. The layer-2 switching is very fast. The hardware is rugged. We use it for the basic configuration. The solution is compatible with many brands, such as VMware. The command-line interface is easy to use.The quality, like all Cisco solutions, is very high. The fact that it's Cisco is one of the reasons we chose to use it.One valuable feature is that you can string a number of switches together, and the fact that there are various methods to connect them, such as by stacking. The queue functionality is the solution's most valuable feature, specifically because we are delivering a lot of Layer 2 services. We find them quite regularly.

The operating system, Junos OS, often has bugs which forces rollbacks or additional upgrades to resolve. The initial setup of switches is not that simple.Technical support is in need of improvement. In the next release of this solution, I would like to see better integration with software-defined networking. We are undergoing a migration to software-defined networking. Different vendors have to integrate with each other and we are not seeing this type of capability within Juniper. We are getting left behind in this technology trend by staying with this solution. Juniper is also losing a bit of market share because of this. The management tools are limited in their abilities, and suffer from upgrade problems. The updates are constantly breaking. The stability of this solution should be improved.
