Quotes From Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"The ease of use and the graphical user interface (GUI) are two of the most valuable features of this solution.""Cisco technical support is very skilled. From what I've had to access, there were quick responses and the necessary escalation.""Easily facilitates remote work opportunities with storage and compute resources.""Cisco HyperFlex HX has improved the way our organization functions on the storage side by having one big storage space for hosting VMs. We do not have to provision other ones. That's a positive aspect of it.""Cisco HyperFlex is helping us to put everything in centrally so that we can manage in one place.""On the VDI side, because the storage is local to the HyperFlex, it was very easy and convenient. The performance is exceptional.""It increases efficiency, decreases the cost, and manages the network in one single way. That's the most important thing.""The product is easy to manage and flexible for upgrading without major changes."

"It is a good solution and it is easy to work on their platform.""It consolidates our servers, and improves our electricity consumption and cooling as well.""The most valuable feature would be the ease of deployment. That is the most significant feature for me because I've worked with multiple vendors and it's always been very complicated to install the software and get everything running.""Best features are around data locality, compression, and deduplication.""The fact that there is only one interface to deploy a complete solution for maximum storage is fantastic.""I definitely find the reduced power consumption very valuable.""The most valuable features are its ease of use and its good performance.""The management interface of this solution is great."

Cons
"One aspect that really needs to be looked at, is to fix the bugs issue.""The initial setup of profiles and templates could be improved. Maybe some end profiles that you can use based on your type of deployment would be good.""The documentation could be substantially better, but the product itself does everything it needs to do.""I haven't been too impressed with the Cisco HyperFlex HX, honestly. It's a hard concept.""You cannot just apply the VSXi updates. You are dependent on Cisco HyperFlex for metric services, analytics, and everything else. I don't like that dependency.""Maybe a better version is required to gather all of the information to allow HyperFlex to bring everything online more rapidly.""The infrastructure team thinks that there are a lot of issues.""The product needs work in the area of deduplication which currently is inefficient."

"If we can have certified compatibility with other companies, such as Oracle, then it would let us know that they function correctly together.""The GUI for this solution needs improvement.""If they can simplify the software slightly for the installation, that would make all the difference.""We could always use a performance upgrade, or simplified management.""They have offered some new features that I have not deployed so I assume that these issues might have been addressed already, but, at my time there was a networking problem.""One thing I've noticed is that, when you do a shift from VMware to Nutanix, it opens the setup of the VM that's currently running. If people from another site double click on it, it opens the VM instead of the setup of the unit. So I would suggest that this could perhaps be switched. That is so far the only change I would like. I would like it if they could fix the instance where you double click on a VM and it opens the VM instead of the setup. That's the only thing that's a major bother to me.""The product could be improved with more security. The product needs a bit more experience in the market. I think you don't have the possibility to add other hardware. It could be improved with the ability to add and extend.""I would have liked it if Nutanix were a hardware as well as a software platform."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"Our licensing is Hybrid. We have all of our applications for billing and outage management through this.""It's roughly $30,000 per Hyperflex license, so that would be about $60,000 a year.""It is relatively expensive, but it can easily return value by freeing up other resources.""One of the challenges we have with HyperFlex is that they have a subscription fee for the operating system that runs on it, and if I remember correctly, it costs approximately $15,000 USD per month.""Our licensing costs are large, but it is combined between all of the Cisco products that we have.""We currently have a perpetual license, which is kind of unlimited, so we don't have the normal licensing cost, yet.""It's much more expensive than rack servers. It was an issue, but when you compare it to the number of people who were administrative assistants before, it's on the positive ROI side. It's much cheaper.""Its price is rather fair when compared with other solutions like VxRail, vSAN, and HPE SimpliVity. We got a fair amount of discount from Cisco for Cisco HyperFlex. It is cost-effective. We have renewed storage till next year, and we have already paid the vendor. When we talk about HyperFlex or any HCI solution, storage is the part where we can reduce a lot of costs. At the current moment, we are already using NetApp storage, which did not allow us to go for a full Cisco HyperFlex setup. We are planning to go to a larger scale next year. Then we will be able to see how cost-effective it really is for us."

"There are a lot of features included with Nutanix that cost a lot with other companies.""They should lower the price. If they did they would fall into a more competitive market because the price does scare a lot of potential customers away when they get the quote.""Pricing varies greatly between license and editions.""Our licensing fee on the total setup up was about R900 000.""I think it's cheaper than VMware in terms of cost.""AHV is free! This is a great feature that should be taken advantage of.""The licensing costs are a bit expensive but when you compare the features, it's reasonable.""This product is less expensive than some of the competing HCI solutions."
