We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"We use Cisco IOS Security mostly for routers to route off the firewall. It's a next-generation device.""Completely integrates branch offices with perimeter security.""It is less expensive than alternative firewalls.""Cisco has always been a premium product. There's a lot of other entry-level solutions. This is more robust.""Technical support for this solution is very good.""The most valuable features are DNS service and shell self-service within a network.""The stability of this solution is excellent.""The solution is very user-friendly and easy to deal with."

"For intrusion detection and mitigation, it has helped us in sort of known signatures and all sorts of things. So, we're very happy with the engine. That's the work.""The most valuable feature is the central command center, where we can control and manage the solution.""What I like about Trend Micro TippingPoint Threat Protection System is that it works okay. I don't have time to mess with the tool most of the time because I have way too many tasks to do, but Trend Micro TippingPoint Threat Protection System tells you when there's a problem, then it blocks the problem, so that's what I like most about it.""You don't need any hardware because the solution is on the cloud. I like that Trend Micro TippingPoint Threat Protection System is easy to install and manage.""The technical support on offer is very good.""The IPS signatures and the IPS database that are given are much better than what is commonly available.""A standout feature of TippingPoint is its strong integration with various solutions. It stands out as one of the leading network Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) in the current market and is known for its seamless integration with other solutions. For instance, when it identifies a potential threat within the traffic stream, it meticulously analyzes the data. Even in multilayer security scenarios, Tipping Point's network IPS can serve as a bypass for the basic firewall. If a threat is identified by Tipping Point, it promptly shares this information with the other systems. This ensures that they're updated and can employ the necessary solutions from their signature databases. The entire network gets safeguarded automatically. This integration extends to components like security and FX. This linkage streamlines our operations, offering a consolidated point of control for managing threats effectively.""What I found most valuable in Trend Micro TippingPoint Threat Protection System is its accuracy. It's the best IPS solution in the market."

Cons
"I would love it if it has a link-by-link feature, integration with Unified Threat Management (UTM), and load balancers. They haven't got any link-by-link feature right now, which can be a very attractive option. This link-by-link feature can also be made available for Cisco's UTM firewalls. The link-by-link feature is available in some of the other firewalls. Currently, integration with UTM is missing. Cisco IOS Security also doesn't have the load balancers and a few things that need to be done to get a good UTM firewall. Normally, other firewalls have UTM. As a next-generation firewall, it's good, but as a UTM, it has to do some work.""I would like to see much more embedded security that works and that isn't a bolt-on.""It takes too much time to deploy a policy to FMC. It takes around eight minutes. You can't afford any downtime when you're changing policies.""The pricing is the only con for this product.""Cisco IOS Security's monitoring is rather rudimentary and could be improved.""The graphical user interface or the GUI could be better. Beginners can use some devices with the GUI, but some security devices are configured using CLI. It would also be better if it had its own Intrusion Protection Service and Intrusion Detection Service on the server.""We have a very bad experience on the support. They take too much time requesting logs, and they are not coming directly online to resolve the issues.""Cisco IOS Security could improve by having more compatibility with other Cisco solutions."

More Cisco IOS Security Cons →

"The solution is pretty expensive.""The firewall rules are limited.""We need more integration. It would be good if Azure IPS and TippingPoint IPS and other products from Trend Micro like their DBI and IWSVA could talk between each other.""There is room for improvement in customer service and support.""Trend Micro TippingPoint Threat Protection System needs strong Spanish-language support.""An area for improvement in Trend Micro TippingPoint Threat Protection System is the complexity of its interface.""It takes a lot of time before you're connected to an engineer, so an area for improvement in Trend Micro TippingPoint Threat Protection System is the response time of its technical support team.""I would like to see this solution more lightweight and easier to install."
