We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"It analyzes the domain security helps us implement the securest policy.""There is much differentiation within the licensing so if anyone wants DNS security from the DNS security log, we are there already, and if anyone wants to go to a secure internet gateway, that is also available. We can get the integrated cloud DLP license keys. That is a good benefit with Cisco Umbrella. You can get a complete solution in a single licensing.""The initial setup is very easy and takes only a few minutes.""We like Cisco Umbrella because of DNS security. It's one step ahead of whatever we are using for regular web filtering. In that way, it's more secure than other web filtering products.""Helps block personal email accounts.""Web proxy adds an effective layer for security.""I have found the malware protection feature valuable. It is helpful and deliverable and is able to protect my entire organization from getting compromised. It also prevents us from visiting any malicious sites which are not visible to the users.""The most valuable feature is the website protection capabilities because it prevents end-users from entering bad sites that potentially have malware or could be used for phishing."

"The security for endpoints is the most valuable. It is very secure for our workers. It allows us to secure a transaction and enable security for a specific segment in the workflow.""It has the same functionalities throughout the range of products.""It is simpler to configure. It is not like Cisco Firepower, where you go crazy trying to follow the Cisco documentation to figure out how to configure one little thing. Unlike Cisco Firepower, where you can't do everything through the web interface and you have got to do some command line stuff, Fortinet FortiGate SWG is simpler. There are four different things in Cisco to get in, which is not the case with Fortinet FortiGate SWG. It is one of my favorite solutions to work with. I would much rather work with it than Cisco Firepower, for example. Even though I've got 20 years of Cisco experience with different firewalls, I would much prefer this solution.""FortiGate is easy to use, and I also like its VPN.""The overall features of Fortinet FortiGate SWG are good.""The performance is very good and the solution is simple to manage."

Cons
"The API is very Cisco orientated, which is absolutely fine if you're using Cisco Firepower and SecureX kind of products, but if you want to integrate with third parties, it is a bit tricky. There are some key API connectors for the more prevalent SIEM tools. I would really like to see in Cisco Umbrella the ability to create customized reports and then assign the rights to view these reports to people within a group. I should be able to create a customized report, which is viewable by anybody who has the rights. I should be able to create groups within Cisco Umbrella, and then assign reports to groups and have those reports split out automatically only to those groups. I can kind of do it by restricting my email list, but it is a half-complete way of doing it.""It's a very new product, so it's quite immature at the moment. It can be more user friendly.""The pricing is a bit high. Being outside of the USA, we have issues with the exchange rate.""Looking at the full umbrella suite in the light of SASE, Secure Access Service Edge, they are clearly lacking in the inline CASB.""User interface could be a little smoother and more intuitive.""One of the issues with Umbrella is as you get into endpoint detection and response, such as EDR point solutions, some of them will not integrate well with Umbrella. Sometimes when you want to use technology, such as Always On VPN, it will not work. There are some looming issues as one type of technology starts to crossover with Umbrella. That is the challenge and Umbrella should find a way to be more compatible with some of the endpoint response solutions that are coming out on the market.""It could be improved by having a local data center and caching, which can provide protection support. I would like to be able to channel my intel and my network traffic to their clouds, and this feature is not available. Advanced protection or any malware file support, which might be required, is not available.""This solution does not give us full, 360-degree protection."

"FortiGate's reporting features could provide a better picture of what is happening in the box.""The solution could improve by having some additional features, such as IBS and better cloud administration.""They have not yet extended to the cloud.""Their technical support could be improved a little bit in terms of responsiveness.""The solution has many heightened points which we cannot get to without working on CLI.""I would like the deployment and integration of this product to be easier. We should be able to deploy the features more easily and have different types of access. It should be easier to integrate. Currently, we need to develop APIs to use this interface."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"The price of Cisco Umbrella is a little higher than similar solutions, like Gateway.""Cisco Umbrella is expensive and could be cheaper.""There are three models for licensing with different feature sets.""The price should be slightly lower than the current price because if you look at the whole solution, it is simply a threat intelligence solution to block blacklisted things. The price should be lower looking at the features provided by the solution. The price isn't too high either, but it could be lower.""The price is quite good.""It has a reasonable price. It is certainly not as expensive as it used to be. It is in line with other offerings on the market. There are a number of different flavors of Umbrella. They could bring Umbrella SIG down a bit because its price is a little bit high for what it does, but I also understand why its price is high.""In the region I'm from, that of EMAR, Europe, the Middle East, Eastern Asia and Africa, our organizations do not have many liquid cash assets, so the price could be better.""Cisco uses subscription models for the pricing and there are three subscription plans."

"It is around $50,000 per month.""We pay about $4,000 for a yearly license, and there aren't any additional fees.""It is less expensive than a Cisco solution.""The price is relatively expensive compared to other solutions which are providing similar features.""There is a need to pay for a license for the product."
