Pros
"For our use case, it was scalable. There were at least 25 end users using this solution from remote locations. And once the connection was established, there weren't any complaints.""I didn't have any hiccups or issues with it.""The stability of the solution is perfect.""The technical support is very responsive and fast""It's easy to use. Also, the deployment part is perfect.""The solution is stable.""The solution is very stable. If I were to rate it out of ten, I would give stability a nine.""It's a stable solution while it's running. We don't have to work on it a lot. There are not many bugs, so it's easy to use if you deploy successfully. You can be sure of an uninterrupted solution for quite a long time. Citrix is a good product."

Cons
"The initial connection could be faster. That handshake takes a few seconds sometimes. That could be better and improved upon.""Technical support could be improved.""Its interface could be made a lot easier. It is very kludgy.""As an organization, our initiative is to move to the cloud, Citrix Gateway needs to improve its cloud capabilities and make the cloud solution more robust.""If there is an increase in the customer infrastructure, it is not stable.""I would like to see improved logging because it doesn't keep much information for the session monitoring or historical sessions.""While connectivity is not something that is under Citrix's control, if the connectivity is spotty, it can be difficult.""The major issue is price. I would also like them to make other aspects more accessible."

More Citrix Gateway Cons →

"We need best-practice information. They have something called DevCentral and a blog. But we want something from F5 itself regarding how to tackle the false-positive configurations. If you go into detail with so many configurations it will find so many false positives from the moment it is enabled that it will quickly impact your applications, and it will not work.""The user interface could be improved in F5 BIG-IP Local Traffic Manager.""The deployment could be simplified.""The pricing could always be better. It's a bit expensive.""I would like to see better integration.""We would like to see load balancing between the cloud and the on-premise, a straightforward deployment feature.""It would possibly help to get more training, even better in local languages.""If we decide to migrate to the cloud, I don't think that BIG-IP is a good solution and we probably won't use it."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Usually with Citrix the issue is the pricing, especially for the African region. We believe it's really expensive."
  • "Pricing is very high if you do a comparison with what is available in the market."
  • "I believe the pricing is comparable to SaaS"
  • "It costs about 4,000 a year."
  • "The price could be lower."
  • "There is a license to use Citrix Gateway and it is less expensive to use when compared to other solutions."
  • "There are two or three different models, but you can actually have a CapEx where you purchase the unit outright and then there's a yearly maintenance cost on top for years two and three, and four, or you can actually do a subscription purchase through Citrix cloud and you pay on a monthly basis, or you can have a three-year subscription contract as well. I give the solution a six out of ten for its cost."
  • "The solution has a yearly licensing fee."

  • "Though functionality is high, its cost can be considered slightly higher than its competitors."
  • "The licensing pricing seems relatively easy enough to get your head around. I would advise anyone to ensure that you have a conversation with an F5 consultant before purchasing, as you would with most products."
  • "Take a look at the modules that you are going to use. Look into the best bundles for them."
  • "The only area that has room for improvement would be pricing, so its competitors do not have a say."
  • "If your IT budget is good, go for it."
  • "This product is costly from a licensing perspective considering its competitors."
  • "Check other vendors like Cisco, Citrix or A10 Networks. There are plenty in the market with which you can achieve same thing."
  • "Great product for the money. But they can get really expensive, so get what meets your needs."
