Quotes From Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"Clarizen's strength is reporting. Aside from reporting, I also like the ability to create customized workflow and custom actions. The workflow rules are handy. For example, you can create custom fields and dependent picklists.""I like the project management solution. It's really nice.""Clarizen Slide Publisher has helped increase transparency and communication with project stakeholders for us."

"The initial setup was pretty straightforward.""Jira has a useful user interface and overall is easy to understand and learn.""Offers a common language set so we can bring people into projects and get them up and running almost immediately.""A most valuable feature involves the ability to customize the entries and to update them quickly.""We use it for capacity planning. We need to gauge and assess whatever is coming to our pipeline and then everything comes to the pipeline, appears as a pic, and then based on that, we create the story points and we take it from there.""The feature that I have found most valuable is its ease of use. I don't need to train anyone to use it, I just give them access and they can use it to add comments, move their issues, change the status, monitor, read, and so on.""You no longer need to email people. You can mention them right in Jira and have conversations there.""All of the tracking features are the most valuable because it allows me to see where we stand today and every day."

Cons
"It could be more user-friendly. I think it is too overwhelming, initially, in terms of possibilities and so on.""I felt like the slide publisher isn't that user-friendly. I think it wasn't that easy to use or to figure out because of formatting constraints, or maybe we need to get better at understanding some of its limitations.""If I start customizing too many things, Clarizen tends to get really slow in our environment and especially if I'm tunneled in an environment, like if I'm connected to my VPN."

"The reporting capabilities, specifically customized reports, should be improved. The out-of-box reports don't meet our needs. We are big into customizing our reports, and being able to do ad hoc reporting would be good.""Sometimes the solution doesn't communicate well with other platforms. It's quite difficult to integrate things and make the data flow from A to B, to Jira, and then back to other areas.""I'd also like to see better notetaking capabilities so every user can get notes when someone provides comments on a Jira ticket. So if they don't want to provide the comments on the Jira ticket, they can get the personal notes in a Jira tool for every profile.""I wish the whole workflow process was easier to set up. You put the requirements in and then you send it to the developer. They get a notification. Then they go into Jira.""Having more seamless integration with Confluence would really help us track our product management activity and other product details in one place.""The performance is not so good sometimes. I know that fully depends on the implementation and the IT environment of Jira or the version of Jira installed. The performance is sometimes not so good. I would like to have a better response time from the Jira server. And it fully depends on the administration side of the Jira.""If you're not a technical person, it might not be very user-friendly.""Jira can improve by making user management better. It is not easy to have visibility of who has the right to do what. Only the administrator has this visibility but there should be the option for other users too."

Pricing and Cost Advice
Information Not Available
"As a company, we get a subsidized price, and it's lower than what's quoted on their website.""When you get larger, the pricing becomes very, very steep.""The basic price of Jira is reasonable, but for each plugin, we have to keep paying more. When you add it all up, it can be expensive. The main problem we face is we are forced to purchases plugin licenses for users who are not going to use them. For example, we have Jira licenses for approximately 450 people but if we only want a purchase a plugin for few people it is mandatory to buy the license for the 450 people who have Jira licensees. This is a problem because sometimes we need plugins for the product manager or for people in charge of the report, not everyone. For us, it can be very expensive in the end, they should alter this policy to allow plugins for only a set number of licenses.""There are no additional costs to the standard licensing.""We are on an annual license and could be less expensive.""We used to be on a perpetual license provided by our clients.""I am not sure about the pricing, but I know its licensing is on a yearly basis.""Jira and its solution off the shelf are cheap. It is cheap for startups."
