We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The recovery time objective and recovery point objective were most valuable. It was easy to use, and it was easy to recover a file. I was the head of sales and a product evaluator for an MSSP, so I never had to deal with recovery from ransomware. However, I was confident that if ransomware had occurred, I would only lose a maximum of 59 minutes of data. The files were encrypted.""The platform provides a faster backup process.""The solution has the capability to scale well.""The product's initial setup phase is easy.""Datto has strong competition, but they succeeded in linking their service to the device. It's easy for managed service providers to sell and upsell products using their portal and the remote monitoring and maintenance.""The solution's reliability is one of its most valuable features...It is a very stable solution."

"MSP360 Backup's most valuable feature is its backup interface.""The solution is easy to access and handles things efficiently.""Technical support is very good.""I was mainly concerned with cloud backups, OneDrive backups, consumer OneDrive, business OneDrive, Google backups, and SharePoint backups. The solution did a good job of the backup.""The initial setup is very easy. It's not overly complex.""The most valuable feature of MSP360 Backup is its reliability.""The best feature is that it's very user-friendly to do scheduled backups and version maintenance.""Provides connectivity to a lot of different cloud storage solutions."

Cons
"They are now providing the device instead of selling it, while wanting their users to sign a three-year contract, and this is something which my clients don't like...I dislike the fact that signing a three-year contract is required.""The product's scalability features could be even better.""Datto's only shortcoming is RMM. They have a portal-based connection service like ConnectWise, but it does backups and keeps things running. Datto purchased Backupify and Kaseya bought Datto. If they upped the ante in their RMM, I could see them dominating the MSP space. At the end of the day, MSPs are responsible for networks, software, devices, and backup. Datto covers all these functions so they could offer a turnkey MSP solution.""The fact that Datto Cloud Continuity is not cheap is one of the aspects that I don't like about the product, making it an area where improvements are required.""I don't have any feedback to provide in terms of features that may be lacking.""At the time I was using it, I would've focused more on signatures of malicious software in the cloud. I love Datto, and I know they're on the right path, but I probably would've focused more on the operating system update management. When you go from the desk to the cloud or from the server room to the cloud, everything changes. Everything is different. You're not in control of your servers anymore. It is from the Active Directory management perspective and not from the perspective of zero-day attacks or other similar things. At the time, more focus on zero-day attacks and business email compromise (BEC) would've been a better protection factor than just educating about how many of these attacks have occurred."

More Datto Cloud Continuity Cons →

"The interface feels like it is targeted for end users who typically are looking for an all-in-one integrated push button solution. It would be better if the interface had a beginner mode and an expert mode.""The restore time could improve. When we had an issue the restore time was lengthy.""They can add some production backup capabilities and the ability to do single instance back up. At the moment, it doesn't do deduplication on the standard backup. So, the issue is backing up PSG files for customers who have limited bandwidth. The other issue is that I don't like the implementation of the SQL backup. We do use SQL ourselves using a PowerShell script with the VDA tools as a module. That's how we back up. The rotation feature would be nice to have, but I know that they've got it on their dashboard or on their list to look at. They can also do a few tweaks to the dashboard. I would like the reporting capabilities on the portal to be much more granular. Normally, I export it to a text file, and then I run it through a pivot table in order to look at it from a cost-recovery point of view and to see when the backup last ran and if it was successful when it ran two or three days ago. Such a feature would work really well for my market. They can also add a cost-effective backup for Android and Apple cellphones. I've had one or two customers who were looking for this feature. I haven't found this functionality at the moment. I've been looking for a product that does that.""The Linux GUI leaves a lot to be desired. It lacks many of the features of the Windows version and is buggy, but it is still usable.""Maybe implement an easier interface for basic users. For example, a set-up wizard with all the commonly used features as default.""The product could be more user-friendly.""We could basically use just a more concise visual dashboard reporting on the status of the various machines.""The solution needs a better graphical user interface. It's a graphical user interface that is very old-school right now. They could give it a little more modern feel."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "As the company grew from business continuity—or what used to be called business BCDR—they brought on services. Certain services, such as SaaS protection, were a value-add, but you would expect to pay for them. They are not going to be free. It is just the life that you live when you're evaluating software vendors, partners, etc. There is going to be some form of a base offering, and then there are going to be different tiers that you need to get up to a better level."
  • "I rate the product price an eight on a scale of one to ten, where one is low price and ten is high price."

  • "It provides a good cost savings compared to our previous cloud backup."
  • "We have a very good return on investment."
  • "Pricing is reasonable although can be quite a large upfront cost."
  • "It includes a standard licensing fee. Once a year, there is a rebranding fee. The licensing costs are available on the internet for MSP360 Backup. There is a discount structure where if you have over 50 devices, you get a 50% discount. So, my cost is $2 a license per month."
  • "MSP360 is vastly cheaper than its competitors and has almost all the same features."
  • "The solution is expensive."
  • "The cost is pretty inexpensive. Around four to five dollars per device, per workstation on each server."
  • "I rate the price of MSP360 Backup a seven out of ten."
