We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The solution is very stable. Very rarely do we have any issues with it. We don't have to deal with bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. We find it to be reliable.""Risk factors can be adjusted for all intricate details.""It has quite a bit of flexibility in configuring backup sets.""t has a very user friendly status bar with common errors and has logs built in to the console so we can review the issues or status of CrashPlan.""There are a couple of things. One of them is that they have what they call Incydr. Their detection and response solution to the insider threat area is called Incydr. That gives visibility to the clients that have widely dispersed employee bases due to work from home, or that had a dispersed workforce predating any of the work from home requirements. Even though they might not be inside the organization physically, they're inside the organization. It allows us to get some visibility into what people are doing, what the context is, and how to control what might be the potential for intellectual property theft or file exposure.""Code42 Next-Gen DLP is scalable.""Security tools: Being able to monitor data going in and coming off our endpoints. Seeing what it is and where it's going is awesome.""Backup and recovery have been great, but I love having the ability to keep the hybrid type build which they offer."

"The solution is useful for taking backups for end-user laptops and end-user workstations where data is involved.""The solution is meeting all of our client's requirements. It has good performance.""Solution provides good security.""It is a stable solution.""The user interface is good. It provides a lot of information.""Veeam is very useful for the Hyper-V environment.""This is a good product with a simple environment.""The most valuable features are the flexibility and stability of the product."

Cons
"You can't always filter out data that you'd like to.""Java, please get rid of Java.""Due to recent changes that effectively abandoned an entire segment of their user base, I no longer trust nor can recommend Code42 products.""There doesn't seem to be any feature that is lacking.""The application, written in Java, required far more system resources on a Client than other solutions.""Reporting could use an overhaul. It is very limited.""More security would be nice, I would love to be able to remotely brick a stolen laptop and it's hard disk drive (HDD).""What I think could be improved is how I get support."

More Code42 Incydr Cons →

"There really are no cons. The product simply has to maintain development to keep up with changes in the operating system.""If they could let you can do replication to physical servers - a backup from physical servers and a replication to physical servers - that will be better.""The predictability of the solution needs improvement. Sometimes, if it's doing something at the back end, it may go slow. Today, the backup completion took four hours, but sometimes it can do the backup in 30 minutes or an hour. With solutions like NetBackup, I can predict to a much higher degree of certainty how long something will take to complete.""In the next release, I would like to see it easier to implement.""There should be an option to use the solution for physical machines.""With the currency exchange, the solution ends up being quite expensive.""I would like to see the capability for remote installation of third party applications added( Like installing WinRar MS Office etc..) , and Firewall for servers.""The stability of this solution needs to be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "They were the best solution and surprisingly enough, the cheapest."
  • "It is 100% worth the cost to get and keep the support, especially when setting it up."
  • "It used to be a good solution for SOHO in particular as it had unlimited storage for a reasonable price. However, their pricing model has changed and they are now primarily targeting enterprise users."
  • "The pricing is reasonable. It's my understanding that the cost is about $7 for unlimited storage in the cloud per server."
  • "It was expensive. It was more expensive than Eureka, and it was more expensive than Barracuda Backup, but what we got was a full team. They didn't come in and nickel and dime us. They provided the assistance we needed. They didn't say that they need to charge us for something or it is going to take another statement of work. It was all bundled into it... We pay for the software maintenance. It is probably 18% or 20% of the license fee for rev releases."
  • More Code42 Incydr Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Our licensing fees are on a yearly basis."
  • "Pricing is based on license packaging and duration. Longer term licenses are less per year and license packages also offer a discount."
  • "There are costs in addition to the standard licensing fees, and pricing can be a disadvantage or a weakness for this solution."
  • "We purchased a three-year license, and I think that the prices are ok."
  • "The pricing is good."
  • "The licensing fees are billed on a yearly basis, and the fees are much lower than what I pay for NetBackup."
  • "The pricing model is based on CPU and must be declared as Microsoft or VMware licensing."
  • "We have a cloud provider agreement with Veeam. We are also paying for the agent."

Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows is a robust, trusted data protection and recovery solution for both physical and virtual machines. This solution can be used to safeguard all kinds of machines and devices, such as desktops, laptops, and mobile devices. Veeam Agent for Windows can easily be installed on all Windows-based physical servers, workstations, desktops, and virtual machines, and works well in either a standalone or managed mode.

It is widely understood that all users should back up all stored data on a regularly scheduled basis to protect all important data. In the event of a data disaster, data can easily be restored from the backup using this solution and one would never have to experience a loss of important information. Users can implement Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows to perform regularly scheduled backups automatically, or manually, as needed. Users can choose to back up individual folders and files, designate particular computer files, or even the entire computer image.

Backups can be saved in several different locations, such as:

    • Cloud Repository (Veeam Cloud Connect)
    • Backup Repository (Veeam Backup Server)
    • Network Shared Folder
    • Local Computer Drive
    • Removable Storage Device (USB, CD, DVD, etc)
    • Microsoft OneDrive

Veeam Agent for Windows users are able to:

    • Create a Veeam Recovery Media file on an external hard drive, CD/DVD/BD, internal hard drive, or choose to establish an ISO file using Veeam Recovery Media on disk.
    • Create a comprehensive system image backup and securely back up chosen computer volumes or specific personal folders with files. Users have the option to store backups in a network shared folder on an external hard drive, or use the Veeam backup repository, Veeam Cloud Connect Repository, or Microsoft OneDrive.

Veeam Data restore offers two options:

    • Volume-level restore: Veeam Agent is able to restore the complete content of the entire volume. The solution retrieves the data blocks pertaining to the designated volumes and copies them to the desired location. A volume can then be restored to a new location or its original location.

    • File-Level Restore: Veeam Agent will use Veeam’s proprietary driver to publish backup content safely to a user's computer file system. Users can then access the content user Veeam’s Virtual Disk Driver (VDK), which is included with the solution. Users can then easily browse and copy the desired files and folders to use as desired.

    Veeam Recovery Media

Veeam Agent for Windows allows users to create a complete recovery image of their computer using Veeam Recovery Media. This image contains all data necessary to run Microsoft Windows Recovery Environment (Windows RE) while supplying a viable option to run users’ computer systems.
