CodeIgniter is a an agile, open-source PHP framework with a very small footprint. Essentially, it is a collection of refactored classes originally written for EllisLab's flagship CMS. Stripped of the application-specific functionality, CodeIgniter was made to be a simple and elegant toolkit, enabling rapid development of both web sites and web applications, attracting thousands of talented PHP developers.
Zend Framework is an open source framework for developing web applications and services using PHP. Zend Framework uses 100% object-oriented code and utilises most of the features of PHP, namely namespaces, late static binding, lambda functions and closures.
