We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"With instant DR failover using SiteContinuity, we are able to keep our files available no matter the situation.""The product is easy to put in place. All backups are done very quickly. It's easy to perform restores. What I prefer in the product is its simplicity. There are no useless settings to define, and everything is ready after the initial setup.""The most valuable feature is ease of use.""The ability to essentially instantly recover a VM and have it run on the Cohesity Platform while all those bits are technically being recovered in the background is useful to us.""Its flexibility is the most valuable. Being a cloud version, it has more flexibility, and it allows me to incorporate different workloads and consolidate all the data in one place. It has good high availability, and it is also easy to maintain.""The ease of use and the GUI have really been most valuable to us. Configuring the system to do what we need is simple and straight forward and a lot of guesswork has been removed. One of my favorite features with Cohesity is Kroll for Exchange item-level recovery. The software is simple to use and fast.""The dashboard is very rich and provides details needed for a moderator.""After linking a cloud subscription, like Azure for example (AWS and Google are also supported), you can "spin" a VM onto the cloud from any backup snapshot."

"If you have a large enough storage capacity then you can take an ample amount of data.""The hardware is strong and all the equipment has a good infrastructure. Personally, I think it's the best storage product in HPE for small to medium-sized businesses.""Deduplication and compression are in a good ratio. It supports the HPE Catalyst protocol, which is much faster than NFS and other protocols. We use CommVault and Veeam, and these two solutions support the Catalyst protocol very well and are integrated at high speed. It is faster than normal access.""The most valuable features are the deduplication and compression capabilities.""The initial setup is one of the most user-friendly B2B user solutions. It's good, it's easy. Deployment usually takes less than one day. You only need one person for deployment and maintenance.""Deduplication is the most valuable feature."

Cons
"Better documentation is needed because the lack of information has necessitated having our team depend more heavily on Cohesity support.""Cohesity DataProtect can improve in the area of databases. We have had some challenges with both Cohesity and Rubrik being able to effectively back up in a timely manner the SQL Oracle workloads.""The support team sometimes takes a long time to resolve issues, although, in our experience, these have been specific things like SQL blobs.""The product is still young and is continually improving. There have been a couple of buggy releases in the software that have caused us minor issues, so possibly some better QA before releasing would prove to be useful. We have also been inquiring about new app and functionality via the Marketplace that was teased months back but has yet to come to fruition.""The solution has a more complex setup than Veritas and Veeam.""Better support for legacy platforms would be nice, but we should be moving off those anyway.""We have Oracle databases running on Linux servers in our environment and we have found the Oracle backups were quite complex to setup.""Features I would like to see include a more visible data lifecycle monitoring tab, and an easier to read backup status dashboard."

"The GUI and its user-friendliness have some room for improvement.""HPE StoreOnce should come with a detailed installation guide.""The web interface, ease of use, and GUI all need to be improved.""The solution should continue to refine its integration capabilities. I also see they are starting to use cloud integration as well, which is good, but they should do more to integrate with it.""Cloud integration needs to be simplified.""When it comes to upgrading, it always goes block-wise. One block is 48 TB raw capacity. It would be good if they can include a smaller capacity for SMB customers. Currently, it is not possible to increase in a smaller capacity. You have to buy the exact same unit. It would be great if they can provide a smaller next block. There are around 20 hard disks, and it would be really helpful if we can add 10 hard disks initially and 10 hard disks later."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"The pricing model is impressive and very effective.""The solution's pricing is quite high, more so than that of its competitors, Veeam, Veritas and Rubrik.""It has reasonable pricing, and we know they can give discounts. If you look at the primary pricing or the list pricing, it conforms to the market pricing, but you have to have a discount on it. Otherwise, it is way too expensive.""My advice is to always negotiate for better pricing.""With respect to pricing, make sure that you look at both Rubrik and Cohesity as they are very similar and are quite competitive.""Sizing is important and it is easy to overestimate.""I expect the system to probably pay off within the first two years.""Pricing, setup costs, etc. are pretty typical. The initial cost for Cohesity was less than other products the we evaluated. Cohesity's pricing does offer benefits as DR target costs are less than other solutions. You are not charged for DataProtect licensing for target DR data consumption."

"The cost of HPE StoreOnce is very expensive.""We have got a perpetual license, and we have access to all the features. If you are using cloud banks, you can store the internal data in HPE Cloud if needed. You can offload the data to the HPE Cloud. It is a licensed product. We have got around 10 TB of cloud bank storage with a one-time payment. We specifically took 10 TB for very critical offsite backups. We can also increase it in blocks if needed.""Price-wise, it comes with a high price tag when compared to other products."
