"The solution is stable."
"We are saving valuable datacenter rack space, which is critical as we evaluate co-location options."
"We can run test scripts on production data."
"Cohesity has simplified backups and has cut our costs tremendously."
"The implementation and training are all done through the sales engineer, which provides for a seamless and great experience when it comes to starting with a new vendor."
"The SQL Backup and Restore is very easy."
"The enterprise search and instant restore are pretty valuable. Also, the Helios stuff is pretty good and the SAS engine for ransom malware detection."
"The solution's SQL cloning is great, and its Instant Mount restoration of virtual machines is brilliant."
"It helps our customers protect their data, especially with stuff like ransomware, compliance, and regulatory requirements."
"Instead of taking three different backups of your systems, you're taking only one. You're able to crack that open and get what you need. The incident recovery, where it creates the VM and then you're running it, technically you're running it on Spectrum Protect. But then in the background, it's doing the storage motion and moving it off the Spectrum Protect back to your VMware environment. The users don't know the difference."
"The ability to migrate between media over a long period of time. My customers are long-time users, and they have benefited from being able to move between tiers. They have been able to do this within the product."
"In general, the solution is quite user-friendly. The GUI is very nice."
"I love the TDP for VMware because of the web interface and the possibilities provided by this tool. It's amazing."
"Data reduction definitely reduces costs, not only software costs, but from the infrastructure needed."
"It helps our customers protect their data, keep it long-term, and feel pretty secure about it, basically sleeping well at night."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is the centralized enterprise backup."
"I would like to see the management of multiple nodes inside a tenant. If you want to manage a Cohesity environment, you either go on a per-node base, and you can hop from one node to the other, or you need to implement their SaaS capability but it always needs an internet connection. We would really like to have some kind of local management entity so that we can see all the Cohesity nodes in a customer environment and manage those nodes centrally. That's something that we would really like, and they are really working on it."
"We have Oracle databases running on Linux servers in our environment and we have found the Oracle backups were quite complex to setup."
"A little more documentation on standard faults would help, as new features are being released quite often."
"Microsoft Exchange online mailbox backups would be fantastic."
"For Oracle DBs, we have observed a few bugs. This can be done better."
"The support is pretty bad."
"We aren't missing any features. In terms of the solution overall, it's so far so good."
"The rack mounting instructions did not appear to be correct, but we were able to overcome it."
"I think Spectrum Protect's interface is not so user-friendly, but the interface is not so friendly. Some of the functions are too complicated. I prefer a simpler solution."
"This solution does not have good support for virtualization and a hyper-converged environment."
"Their support is lacking. I've talked to their developers and stuff in the last couple of weeks and they reassure me that some people have retired, and they're working on getting that bumped back up. But the support lacks a lot to be desired at this point."
"We would like to see bare-metal restorers."
"Customers have migrated off of it because of its lack of virtual environment functions."
"The solution needs to work on disaster recovery integration. Basically, VMware applications to the cloud, for example. There needs to be integration with the storage, and integration with VMware."
"It needs better connectivity with other non-IBM application hardware and non-IBM platforms."
"The version that we had when I first started made it look really bad. We are talking about commands that should have run in two seconds, but instead took four to eight hours. Other components were sluggish."
