Quotes From Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"One of the most valuable features is the restore functionality that they offer.""The most valuable features of Cohesity DataProtect are SpanFS and the handling of hybrid workloads.""The ability to essentially instantly recover a VM and have it run on the Cohesity Platform while all those bits are technically being recovered in the background is useful to us.""The restores are easy to do and have made it so that we can incorporate restores into our troubleshooting processes.""Instant recovery options are a big benefit for urgent restores, as we don't need to wait for hours or days for a restore to complete before being able to access the files.""Cohesity's web-scale architecture enables us to scale up as needed.""With instant DR failover using SiteContinuity, we are able to keep our files available no matter the situation.""The system automatically takes down the nodes one at a time and performs the upgrade and brings the node back up before proceeding to the next. Upgrades can now be done at any time with a high level of confidence."

Cons
"The support team sometimes takes a long time to resolve issues, although, in our experience, these have been specific things like SQL blobs.""Better support for legacy platforms would be nice, but we should be moving off those anyway.""Better documentation is needed because the lack of information has necessitated having our team depend more heavily on Cohesity support.""The error handling could be improved.""There is limited support for legacy systems, which is something that could be improved.""I'd like to be able to pause a backup while it's running and have it resume when I tell it to resume.""We would love to see direct compatibility with HPE Simplivity, which we also leverage.""Cohesity cluster upgrades have not been as easy as a single button click. They are a manual process that requires upgrading each node into a cluster individually."

More Cohesity DataProtect Cons »

"There isn't much to improve. They just need to follow the trend or the development of other Linux products. Follow in terms of making the product compatible with new versions of Linux. They just need to include as many versions for Linux as possible.""They could be more customer-friendly.""The solution is pretty stable right now, however, we believe that the solution could be made to be even more stable.""The integration needs improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"My advice is to always negotiate for better pricing.""The solution's pricing is quite high, more so than that of its competitors, Veeam, Veritas and Rubrik.""Pricing, setup costs, etc. are pretty typical. The initial cost for Cohesity was less than other products the we evaluated. Cohesity's pricing does offer benefits as DR target costs are less than other solutions. You are not charged for DataProtect licensing for target DR data consumption.""Sizing is important and it is easy to overestimate.""I expect the system to probably pay off within the first two years.""It has reasonable pricing, and we know they can give discounts. If you look at the primary pricing or the list pricing, it conforms to the market pricing, but you have to have a discount on it. Otherwise, it is way too expensive.""With respect to pricing, make sure that you look at both Rubrik and Cohesity as they are very similar and are quite competitive.""The pricing model is impressive and very effective."
