We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"I found value in the instant recovery with DataMove. I found value in the protection group model for applying policies to VMs. And in the overall UI navigation and the way that the application is laid out in the web browser.""The recovery process is effective, especially when it comes to other types of data, such as VMs, and overall, the performance is commendable.""The solution's SQL cloning is great, and its Instant Mount restoration of virtual machines is brilliant.""By using their Helios Cloud service, you have all your clusters, no matter where they are located, in one web portal.""The most valuable features of Cohesity DataProtect are SpanFS and the handling of hybrid workloads.""Instant recovery options are a big benefit for urgent restores, as we don't need to wait for hours or days for a restore to complete before being able to access the files.""Cohesity DataProtect is more of a unified solution, which is also trying to expand for ransomware protection.""Instant volume mount and the SpanFS filesystem itself, which has great dedupe and compression across all of our backups."

"The initial setup is very straightforward.""The initial setup was straightforward. It was very easy. Deployment only took about one hour with configuration and everything considered.""The most valuable features are backup and restore. This solution is also easy to use.""This is a good product with a simple environment.""The product is free to use. We don't have to pay for a license.""It is a stable solution.""Technical support is good. They're very responsive. Cons
"Features I would like to see include a more visible data lifecycle monitoring tab, and an easier to read backup status dashboard.""The support team sometimes takes a long time to resolve issues, although, in our experience, these have been specific things like SQL blobs.""I would like to see Microsoft Exchange DAG supported as soon as possible.""Quality testing of upgrades should be somewhat improved.""I think Cohesity could add more platform support. For example, they could improve integration with DB2 or make the integration S3 object storage a little tighter. Some of that stuff could use some work, but overall, it's a relatively comprehensive platform.""Better support for legacy platforms would be nice, but we should be moving off those anyway.""We have had our share of minor bugs over the past two years and a few bigger ones.""Cohesity cluster upgrades have not been as easy as a single button click. They are a manual process that requires upgrading each node into a cluster individually."

More Cohesity DataProtect Cons →

"I would like to see the ability for incremental backups and reverse backups.""There isn't really anything I would like to improve. Maybe the solution could be more secure.""The compression ratio and application ratio could still be improved in this solution. Reporting could also be improved, for better monitoring.""I would like there to be more integration with other platforms.""It is not always easy to update this solution to the newer version, so the update process needs to be improved.""I would like to see the capability for remote installation of third party applications added( Like installing WinRar MS Office etc..) , and Firewall for servers.""Updating and configuration can sometimes be a little bit of a hassel, but once you know the product better it is easy to use.""I've found a lot of difficulties on the initial setup and especially in terms of credentials. We really need a Window OS. It doesn't like the domain admin account. it's a primary permission issue."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Licensing is per node and per protected terabyte. You will also pay 10-15% annually for support."
  • "If SQL is in heavy use at your location, I would highly recommend narrowing your PoC testing to Cohesity and Rubrik. They will be competitive on pricing with each other, so really put them through the paces."
  • "The ROI is huge. Not really measurable at this point, but the price of the unit was a fraction of what a couple hours of downtime could result in."
  • "Cohesity came in at the best price."
  • "Cohesity came in at the best price. Setup was included and done in half a day."
  • "Ensure that you understand the per TB licensing model. Also, Exchange backups are not native to Cohesity and require Kroll."
  • "We purchased support from Cohesity to ensure that should we face an issue, we don't have to deal with different service providers."
  • "With respect to pricing, make sure that you look at both Rubrik and Cohesity as they are very similar and are quite competitive."
  • More Cohesity DataProtect Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Pricing is based on license packaging and duration. Longer term licenses are less per year and license packages also offer a discount."
  • "There are costs in addition to the standard licensing fees, and pricing can be a disadvantage or a weakness for this solution."
  • "We purchased a three-year license, and I think that the prices are ok."
  • "The pricing is good."
  • "The licensing fees are billed on a yearly basis, and the fees are much lower than what I pay for NetBackup."
