It is not a complex product. It is quite simple.""It is easy to use, and you can run it with all kinds of client software environments. It works well with the most popular software, file systems, and operating systems. Cons
"Cohesity DataProtect can improve in the area of databases. We have had some challenges with both Cohesity and Rubrik being able to effectively back up in a timely manner the SQL Oracle workloads.""We would like it to have more capabilities for different kinds of PaaS or SaaS services in the Azure cloud, such as Azure SQL or Azure Cosmos DB.""For Oracle DBs, we have observed a few bugs. This can be done better.""The support team sometimes takes a long time to resolve issues, although, in our experience, these have been specific things like SQL blobs.""The product is still young and is continually improving. There have been a couple of buggy releases in the software that have caused us minor issues, so possibly some better QA before releasing would prove to be useful. We have also been inquiring about new app and functionality via the Marketplace that was teased months back but has yet to come to fruition.""The error handling could be improved.""I'd like to be able to pause a backup while it's running and have it resume when I tell it to resume.""In terms of what could be improved, it just needs some maturity."

More Cohesity DataProtect Cons »

"The deployment time is longer than it is with other products.""It's not a user-friendly solution. It's a little bit complicated. The UI is not very friendly.""In regards to protecting the physical servers with parameters, it's a long and difficult process.""Support for the solution needs improvement.""I also think they could improve the reporting. They use a web-based software application OpsCenter for the reporting and I see that they haven't made any changes in years.""The only pain point we have with this solution is the cost. It's very expensive. In fact, it's so expensive we are looking for other platforms. We want to move away from it in order to save our organization costs.""I think reporting can always be improved.""When the customer is using SaaS applications like Office 365, the integration falls short and needs to be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"The solution's pricing is quite high, more so than that of its competitors, Veeam, Veritas and Rubrik.""Pricing, setup costs, etc. are pretty typical. The initial cost for Cohesity was less than other products the we evaluated. Cohesity's pricing does offer benefits as DR target costs are less than other solutions. You are not charged for DataProtect licensing for target DR data consumption.""Sizing is important and it is easy to overestimate.""I expect the system to probably pay off within the first two years.""It has reasonable pricing, and we know they can give discounts. If you look at the primary pricing or the list pricing, it conforms to the market pricing, but you have to have a discount on it. Otherwise, it is way too expensive.""My advice is to always negotiate for better pricing.""The pricing model is impressive and very effective.""With respect to pricing, make sure that you look at both Rubrik and Cohesity as they are very similar and are quite competitive."

More Cohesity DataProtect Pricing and Cost Advice »

"Our license is capacity-based.""If you have a source size of one terabyte then they will charge for a one terabyte license, although what is actually being stored is much less.""The price of NetBackup is okay. I think it's a little bit expensive but manageable. It has a lot of features, and the backup is better than most applications, so I think the price is competitive.""NetBackup is expensive. They need to work on the pricing side. I find it comparatively on the higher side when I compare the terabyte backup costs.""It's expensive when comparing to other solutions on the market.""The price is fair.""Price-wise, most of the backup products are similarly priced, and NetBackup is the same.""Licensing fees are charged based on the number of CPU cores."
