Iinstant recovery (allows a spin-up of your image as a VM on the appliance).VM backup is much faster and more reliable, as I can test my backups with Data Copy Access jobs.It is very easy to set up and get started. Almost too easy. We racked this device and had it up and running in less than 15 minutes. It is an easy system to use. Cons
A little more documentation on standard faults would help, as new features are being released quite often.Physical RDMs on virtual machines could be a bit easier to configure and plan out.The rack mounting instructions did not appear to be correct, but we were able to overcome it.We are waiting on the AIX agent to be released.Initial setup can be complex if you need to change IP addresses. Hopefully, they improve that in a future release. At times, you may click the wrong server or click too fast and accidentally restore a cluster of servers. Pricing and Cost Advice
Ensure that you understand the per TB licensing model. Also, Exchange backups are not native to Cohesity and require Kroll.Cohesity came in at the best price.Cohesity came in at the best price. Setup was included and done in half a day.Licensing is per node and per protected terabyte. You will also pay 10-15% annually for support. If SQL is in heavy use at your location, I would highly recommend narrowing your PoC testing to Cohesity and Rubrik. They will be competitive on pricing with each other, so really put them through the paces. The ROI is huge. Not really measurable at this point, but the price of the unit was a fraction of what a couple hours of downtime could result in.

Pricing model constantly changes. We found that the cost of Unitrends was about the same as the Dell DR6300. We liked the fact that the Unitrends appliance was all-in-one.The cost of Unitrends definitely draws you in. The licensing is all included in the appliance, which is a great incentive.Talk with the sales guys. They can work with you on the best package.Initial pricing is competitive. Renewal pricing is steep, so make sure to project costs for the lifetime of the appliance(s).When you purchase initially, get into the program which gives replacement hardware for free when you renew your support agreement.Make sure you do the homework to size the solution properly. Buy the Enterprise Plus licensing if you can afford it.
