Pros
This solution is easy to manage. It has a lightning fast restore. The spin-up of a VM within a test environment for backup testing along with quick restores. It's completely reliable and easy to restore.Cohesity is a cost-effective storage designed for secondary or archival data. It also integrates well with a number of other systems, like VMware, Pure Storage, or AWS with its large array of APIs available to the user. The four independent node cluster architecture is redundant. It maintains data integrity and load balancing. We are saving valuable datacenter rack space, which is critical as we evaluate co-location options. We are looking forward to the next release, so we can take advantage of the AHV backup for our Nutanix environment.

I love Veeam because it is very easy to work with. The user interface is good. It provides a lot of information.Technical support is good. They're very responsive. It depends on the timezone responding, but I usually get a response within three hours of creating a ticket. The interface of this solution is quite good.A full-featured option for managing virtual machines with an instant recovery feature.I like working on the Azure platform.Application awareness is very good and the speed of this solution is good. The initial setup was straightforward. It was very easy. Deployment only took about one hour with configuration and everything considered.

Cons
This solution is only compatible with a limited number of storage arrays, including Pure and Cisco Hyperflex.Microsoft Exchange online mailbox backups would be fantastic.Since it is an evolving product, there are lot of frequent releases which require upgrades to be done every other weekend. The support team could do a better job. Sometimes finding the correct person is cumbersome and time consuming.Physical RDMs on virtual machines could be a bit easier to configure and plan out.The rack mounting instructions did not appear to be correct, but we were able to overcome it.I would like to see Cohesity have the ability to do a file level restore from a Windows server, which is storing data on dynamic disk.A little more documentation on standard faults would help, as new features are being released quite often.

It is not always easy to update this solution to the newer version, so the update process needs to be improved. The predictability of the solution needs improvement. Sometimes, if it's doing something at the back end, it may go slow. Today, the backup completion took four hours, but sometimes it can do the backup in 30 minutes or an hour. With solutions like NetBackup, I can predict to a much higher degree of certainty how long something will take to complete.I've found a lot of difficulties on the initial setup and especially in terms of credentials. We really need a Window OS. It doesn't like the domain admin account. it's a primary permission issue. An area that this solution could be improved would be with the licensing.Updating and configuration can sometimes be a little bit of a hassel, but once you know the product better it is easy to use.I am not very impressed by the technical support I received when I had an issue. The stability of this solution needs to be improved.Maybe in the future, they could do something better with the user interface and the performance, but so far it's a really good, efficient solution.

Pricing and Cost Advice
Ensure that you understand the per TB licensing model. Also, Exchange backups are not native to Cohesity and require Kroll.Cohesity came in at the best price.Cohesity came in at the best price. Setup was included and done in half a day.Licensing is per node and per protected terabyte. You will also pay 10-15% annually for support. If SQL is in heavy use at your location, I would highly recommend narrowing your PoC testing to Cohesity and Rubrik. They will be competitive on pricing with each other, so really put them through the paces. The ROI is huge. Not really measurable at this point, but the price of the unit was a fraction of what a couple hours of downtime could result in.

We purchased a three-year license, and I think that the prices are ok.There are costs in addition to the standard licensing fees, and pricing can be a disadvantage or a weakness for this solution.Pricing is based on license packaging and duration. Longer term licenses are less per year and license packages also offer a discount. Our licensing fees are on a yearly basis.
