Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Collibra Catalog has significantly enhanced data governance and compliance for our team, primarily through its valuable feature of endpoint lineage enabling visual representation of the data.""We have had no complaints about the stability.""Collibra Catalog is simple to use and user-friendly for those who are not technically inclined since it is easy to find while also easy to see data lineage diagrams.""Collibra Catalog's best feature is the data quality checker."

"Data mining is one of the valuable features. We're able to connect all of the data sources with the installed driver, so that is a good advantage in Denodo. Being able to join the tables and view them is also valuable.""Denodo is lightweight in terms of how it leads you to combine your discrete data systems at one spot.""While we may not be using all the features of Denodo at this time, we have found the data virtualization features to be very useful in helping us connect our data sources together, bringing all our data into one platform.""The most valuable features are query optimization and the single language independence from the sources we're using to catch data.""Overall, the product works quite well and has a good set of features.""In PL/SQL, first you need to gather all the data and then start writing the file, but in Denodo you fetch the data and write the data simultaneously. So, for example, if you have 1 million or 2 million records, you don't have to wait to fetch all of the 2 million; you can keep on fetching and writing in the file simultaneously.""It allows a lot of traceability and you can decide what data you want to collect""The best thing about Denodo is that creating and deploying a web service can be done in about 10 minutes, compared to a whole day when it comes to other solutions (such as when deploying with Java and AWS)."

Cons
"A key area for improvement in Collibra Catalog lies in its integration capabilities, particularly with a broader range of sources.""Collibra Catalog could improve its automation to increase the efficiency of the software.""The tool's overall functionalities need to improve since, nowadays, many tools, from a business perspective, are easy to use."

More Collibra Catalog Cons →

"I would like to see a connectivity option with third-party apps, for example, JDBC, and ODBC drivers. Currently, we need to install it separately from the Denodo side and then connect it.""The git configuration really should be improved.""There have been some issues when you are at a table. Currently, Denodo exports data sets for a tabular model. When you are finished modeling your database or data warehouse they export a link to be used in Tableau. They should support other tools like Power BI.""The integration could use improvement, it's a lot of non-speed line processes that we have discovered, in the country. The configurations could use a lot more improvement.""User-specific security at the column and row levels needs to be improved. Instead of applying security at every individual level, it would be better if it were at the group or tier level. It will save a lot of time.""Documentation needs to be improved""Denodo's training documentation could be improved by providing more material. From an administrative standpoint, I've found that only Denodo websites provide the usual tutorials. It may be because it's a bit of a restricted tool, but it results in trouble with learning. Normally, I can find help and solutions from other sources, but I haven't been able to find any for Denodo. Other that, it's fine and it performs well. I only have six months of experience, so I can't accurately suggest improvements.""Sometimes, Windows-related functions do not work properly in Denodo. The analytic functions in SQL do not work properly."
