We performed a comparison between Commvault Cloud and Dell PowerProtect DP (IDPA) based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Backup and Recovery solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The backup and restore capabilities are key. The most useful things to us about Commvault, in general, is the breadth of the applications that it can protect as well as the features inside of it, like deduplication and encryption. When people get their data encrypted, Commvault has a way to tell if somebody is being attacked through a cybersecurity threat because their data changes. So, Commvault has what they call honeypot files out there to look to see if anybody is changing these files. Only Commvault knows which files those are, so nobody should be messing with those files. If it changes, then it will alert you to say, "Oh, I potentially have somebody messing with my files." It will alert you to something going on in your environment that probably shouldn't be happening. We deploy that with all our customers so they have this capability as well."
"The most important feature is that everything can be controlled using a single console."
"The return points are very valuable."
"The product is user-friendly."
"Commvault's Command Center is one of the best solutions out there. You can rely on Commvault solutions for the most complex and most demanding environments."
"All workloads can be integrated with Commvault. If we use a new technology, Commvault integrates with it. Commvault is a data management solution with support for building the DR side of things. With Commvault we can rapidly back up and restore any application we add to our environment."
"Metallic is user-friendly, cost-effective, and the technical support is impressive."
"IntelliSnap and file system backups are valuable features."
"The product is easy to troubleshoot and store data."
"Instead of four or five tools, consisting of backup software, storage where the backup resides, and a separate system for reporting and central monitoring, they all now come in the virtual edition for IDP."

"IDPA's best feature is Turbo Boost Technology. The compression and duplication features are excellent, too."
"We don't need to manage different devices."
"It is very simple to perform an upgrade of the system and the environment."
"The most valuable feature is the deduplication rate."
"The solution is strong."
"I think the one thing that could be improved is the customer experience. The interface should be more user friendly."
"I would like to have a manager-level dashboard to review the backups. This is not from an administrative perspective where you can see the details of the execution. Rather, it would only show the percentage of completeness for each one."
"Support could improve and the initial configuration would be easier with assistance from a professional engineer."
"They should move the CommServe outside of Windows machines and the database should be distributed among servers. It's still a single point of failure."
"The setup is not that straightforward or easy. Even the documentation is not generic or public like other products. You have to be a partner or you have to have a specific account and download it from the vendor themselves."
"This is not a very high standard product."
"In an upcoming release, the reports could be better."
"The product is a bit complex."
"The solution should be easier to use."
"The two-factor authentication is missing from Dell products."
"I would like to see integration with Dell EMC's Cloud Tier."
"We cannot add IDPA to DPC, and each IP has a DP Central, which cannot monitor other IDPAs."

"Managing the product is a little bit complicated."
"The product's index master feature needs improvement."
"The price could be lowered slightly, to make it more competitive."
