We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable features of Commvault Complete Data Protection are the complete feature sets it provides in one platform. You are able to backup many different types of data, such as virtual machines, servers, cloud, endpoints, Microsoft Office365, and Gmail. The usage of the solution is flexible.""The data protection itself is very good compared to other products.""Restoring is very fast. In testing, I did a restore for a single item from a mailbox. Within a minute, I had the message back in my mailbox. So, it didn't take hours or days. Obviously, there will be a limit. If we suddenly go into DR and have to restore five terabytes of emails for people, then it will take a couple of days, which would be acceptable. For general usage, where we have to do the odd restore, we have never had issues. It happens within minutes.""It helped us reduce the number of servers that are required for a stable operation.""It is much more scalable and flexible than everything else in the market.""Commvault gives us a single platform to manage and recover our data. Since we are a research organization, backup is one of the most critical parts of our IT operations and services. Internally, we run it as a managed service, and there is a single console that makes it easy for management to see the performance.""The use of hyperscale storage hardware and Commvault software has allowed us to create a large storage pool and achieve significant savings in our back-end storage costs.""When an interruption takes place due to an incident, the signaling and notification are very extensive."

"It's incredibly fast.""The main benefit of this solution is that it automatically scans the files for ransomware after the backup is complete.""The recovery aspect of the solution is its most valuable feature.""You don't need a certified administrator to manage this product.""Druva inSync is very easy to use.""The tool has good features. The backup is also accurate.""Our customers do not need to purchase third party storage or a separate server for data backup.""If you are looking for a backup solution, go with Druva because it's quite simple."

Cons
"This solution can be complex and difficult to administer because it supports all of the many platforms, so it would help if they could simplify it.""The customer support is not good.""The product is a bit complex.""The interface could be improved because it has two different consoles.""They need to integrate configuration screens or videos (free training courses, webinars, demos) so that engineers with little experience can fully exploit the features that are offered or managed within the license that was acquired, and thus have better quality and completely satisfactory experience.""I just wanted to compare the features, which are there in EMC NetWorker, which are not available in Commvault. We have things using Networker.""Support for this product needs to be improved because I have seen a couple of cases where it is taking more than the required time to solve issues.""It takes a lot of technical expertise to implement. Commvault could increase the training it provides to customers and partners."

More Commvault Cloud Cons →

"The product needs to improve its support.""The one area that needs to improve is the pricing.""If I could have an accelerator or something to back up the solution on the cloud, that would be helpful. Also, it would be helpful if the accelerator could give me a buffer of a couple of days for any kind of immediate recovery on an offsite.""Druva inSync is very high in price. A general customer cannot afford this solution. Even if the product is good, people cannot afford such a high cost just for taking the backup. This is a recurring investment, and the customers have to pay for it every year. Druva is also yet to develop the channel and the channel or partner commitment.""The support of other cloud services needs to be improved. It has very good cloud support for AWS but not with others.""The user quota is an area that needs to be improved.""The solution takes a lot of time during restoration.""The user quota is an area that needs to be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "If budget allows using the per socket license and not the agent based with per GB counter for Dedup is the way to go."
  • "There is now a subscription based licence option that, depending on your environment, could offer a more efficient method to licence the solution if you are OPEX cost driven rather than CAPEX."
  • "New licensing is easy and affordable."
  • "Licensing could be better explained. Sometimes, it's unclear what features are available in different licensing models."
  • "Compared to other competitors and vendors the pricing is fair."
  • "In my experience, compared to solutions like Veritas and Veeam, while they do have their technical pluses and minuses, Commvault can save you on average forty percent initially, and then twenty to twenty-five percent annually."
  • "The price could perhaps be lower as well."
  • "Our cost is around $20,000 per month. The previous year, it was around $30,000 per month. It now costs less because Commvault changed the licensing type for providers."

  • "Once you decide to go with this product the cost can be worked out with the vendor."
  • "The price is quite good, It's approximately $4000.00 per user for one year."
  • "It's approximately $4000.00 per user for one year."
  • "It is an expensive product for the middle class or SMB customers in India. A lot of top-level big companies also cannot afford this solution. During the license period, one can download the entire data from the cloud without paying any additional cost. This way the data can be easily recreated from the stored data when a machine is lost or the data is compromised."
  • "Out of all the solutions we evaluated, Druva inSync was the most affordable."
  • "The pricing of Druva inSync is very high as compared to other cloud backup solutions."
  • "The pricing is thirty-five dollars per year or three dollars per month per user."
