"Organizations working on different projects can benefit from this tool.""Informatica Test Data Management is a complete solution. I'm not very deep in the technical aspect of the solution, but most of the workflows are now completely automated. There are some minor elements where we have to still add manual parts to the implementation.""The tool enabled us to leverage Teradata Parallel Transporter to write the masked data efficiently to our Teradata warehouse."

Cons
"Technical support has gotten better over the years, though there's always room for improvement.""We plan to replace BMC Compuware File-AID due to its price. Two years back, we paid 11,000 dollars. However, the current price is 27,900 dollars. The price has increased to at least eight times its initial cost. We would need to pay around 60,000 dollars to have all three products together. We also encountered issues during version updates."

"Probably the ideal time testing site, utilizing self-service for real-time testing, could be an area for improvement.""The UI experience is a little bit old. When applying more than 80 columns, it means doing it in phases, as it won't allow it in one go.""Informatica has a data governance suite, and at the moment, there is no connection between the data governance elements, such as the data catalog, and the Informatica Test Data Management software. For example, the data discovery which is part of both solutions is two separate things. If you have a data discovery in the data catalog, then we cannot use it for Informatica Test Data Management purposes and vice versa. The same software vendor, has two different products, with the same functionality. There's was no need to separate things. This is something which was a problem in a use case of the customer where this was the reason why they didn't choose the Informatica solution."

    Overview

File-AID is Compuware’s cross-platform file and data management solution that enables developers and QA staff to quickly and conveniently access necessary data and files instead of hunting around for them. In turn, developers devote less time to data-related tasks and spend more time developing new functionality and managing production problems. Rightsizing your test data provides confidence to make code changes without unintended consequences.

File-AID gives developers the ability to:

    • Effectively manage files and data across platforms
    • Access all standard file types regardless of record length or format for application integration
    • Automatically compare data files or objects to simplify the test results validation process
    • Reformat files by easily modifying an existing file format instead of starting from scratch
    • Extract and load related subsets of data from multiple databases and files
    • Ensure all test conditions are met by selecting the precise application test data you need
    • Customize test data for a particular application and specific conditions
    • Automate these activities using tools you already own, such as Jenkins

Informatica TDM empowers testing teams to generate test data sets for both simple and complex test case scenarios; spot and address data privacy risks with a complete library of prepackaged data masking algorithms; and define and reuse test data subset and masking policies across multiple applications and locations without the need to recode.
