Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"ControlUp has an easy installation process.""The script-based actions have allowed us to extend the core reporting capabilities.""It shows you so many details of what's going on in that log-on that, if there's a problem, you can identify it in five minutes.""It has a great career time monitoring tool.""When using ControlUp, the core feature that we have found valuable is its UI. It is a valuable tool to view the analysis reactions of a base core Level 2 or Level 1 team so that they can complete the necessary troubleshooting.""Security, uptime, and reduced capital expenditures are the main reasons we use ControlUp. So basically, the money that we consume is based on the amount of time we are using a service.""The most valuable features in ControlUp are endpoint monitoring and the many features that are available.""The most valuable feature is the granularity of visibility into the resources that are in use by our applications."

"The presentation layer is pretty simple and straightforward.""It helps our NetOps group actually handle alarms in a way that lets them see the bigger picture of those alarms, and how they might affect our services. It helps us communicate information about the network state better to services that might be impacted by a specific network condition.""It is easy to understand and determine when and/or where the network is failing.""We can plan changes and replacement of end-of-life products in our environment very well because it's very accurate.""As the kind of enterprise that straddles the line between telco size and enterprise size, it scales for us, because we're not all the way at telco yet.""The capability of handling and monitoring with SNMP and working with the SNMP traps is much better than other products.""Allows us to have a single console/notification point, with the alarms of all the tools that we use for monitoring.""The granular access control that it provided so that you could only see devices that were related to what you were working on was great. I couldn't see the entire inventory of devices. I could only see the ones that were related to my work. It has got a very granular access control component."

Cons
"The graphical user interface needs to be improved from version to version.""The most common complaint that I have heard, at least within our organization, is about reporting. They have their own reporting. It's just that it doesn't yet include everything that you can look at within the application. You can only report on specific metrics or collections.""ControlUp could improve the integration. Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop monitoring has better integration.""Solve is a quick and intuitive tool for quickly mapping data together, however, once you have the view of the data that you like, it is difficult to share this with colleagues.""Something I would love to see from a partner perspective would be maybe a way to do this in a surface hosting provider.""We'd like to see the mobile app working again so that we can get alerts 24/7. This is especially useful for the person on call.""This solution be improved by including load throttling tools. For example, I can identify a service where we spend a lot of CPU but I cannot restrict the service from ControlUp. I have to use another tool like AppSense.""Integration is always a problem, and we feel that we are doing our best and the service provider thinks they are doing their best. I guess if ControlUp's system could be more capable or if people could understand the integration part, that would be better."

More ControlUp Cons →

"Integration with some other tools, and integration with some Network Packet Broker, need some improvement.""The solution's stability needs improvement.""Make it easier to certify devices.""The Spectrum OneClick is a Java-based client, and that's aging. Really, before any new feature integration, I'd love to see a comprehensive rebuild of the UI.""It doesn’t give you performance metrics: You need CA eHealth for this.""If the integration is simplified or improved, it will be a unique selling point in comparison to the competition on the market.""I would recommend AI capability built-in so it becomes more predictable and we jump ahead of the curve. This is the one really important feature I would really like to see in any product that provides alarms.""We want to make our own choice for the AIOps solution and do not want to be forced to use the Broadcom OI solution by default."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "We are satisfied with the price compared to other solutions."
  • "Personally, I would say that the only thing I could compare it to is another monitoring tool that we use, Nagios."
  • More ControlUp Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "It is very pricey. With the current trend of enterprises moving towards cheaper and more modern looking solutions like ManageEngine, SevOne, ServicePilot, and Paesller."
  • "It’s a great tool, but an expensive one. Learn how to use it properly."
  • "The cost of some of these products are a little cost prohibitive, which is unfortunate. We have to find lower cost solutions for some of the things that we have to pull in. For the most part, CA has capabilities in pretty much everything that you would need. You just have to figure out where are you going to spend the most money for what you have to actually get done. You can do all these things but, which ones do you have to do? And that's hard to choose sometimes because you want to do them all."
  • "In general, the license cost will be about 30% of the total TCO for this tool (hardware/support team, OS costs, and OS management)."
  • "The product, support, and maintenance are all expensive, which is another reason that we are switching to another solution."
  • "The price is very high."
  • "The price of the solution is reasonable."
  • "Currently, a perpetual license but some services are moving to a subscription"
