Quotes From Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"I like that you can build out a dashboard pretty quickly. There are some things that come out of the box that you don't really need to do, which is great because they're default settings.""Datadog has given us near-live visibility across our entire cloud platform.""The most valuable feature of Datadog is its logs.""The application performance monitoring is pretty good.""We find they have a very helpful alert system.""Straightforward to integrate and automate.""I have found some of the most valuable features to be the way things all come together that gives us a point of view that is useful. The panel is very beautiful and customizable.""Because of our client focus, it is easy for us to sell. This is because it is easy to use and easy to set up."

"We were able to integrate with the messaging tool, Slack, which meant that we got notifications whenever something was not quite right."

Cons
"The installation is easy for me. However, if you are new to this solution it might not be so easy.""Its pricing model can be improved. Its settings should be improved for a better understanding of billing. They should also provide some alerts when there is an increase in the usage. For example, if there is 20% more increase from one week to another, the customer should get an alert.""I found the solution to be stable, I did not experience any bugs or glitches. However, some of the managing team did.""It can have an artificial intelligence component. Even though I can seamlessly look at end-to-end security, it would be better to have alerts and notifications powered by an AI engine. I am not sure if they have an AI component. We have not reached out to them or looked at it, but this is something that I keep on talking about within our company in terms of features. Such a feature would be good to have, and it would further optimize my Security Ops team's abilities.""More pre-configured "Monitor Alerts" would be helpful.""The error traceability is an area that can be improved.""The pricing model could be simplified as it feels a bit outdated, especially when you look at the billing model of compute instances vs the containers instances.""It would be ideal if the product offered a bit more monitoring from our dashboard."

"There are certain features that are not supported in New Relic, such as CATSEARCH, which allows you to do a full-text search."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"They prefer monthly subscriptions.""It didn't scale well from the cost perspective. We had a custom package deal.""Datadog does not provide any free plans to use the solution. When I start with a proof of concept it would be sensible to have a free plan to test the tool and check whether it fits the requirements of the project. Before the production stage, it is always good to have a free plan with some limited features, number of requests, or logs.""If you do your homework, you'll find that if you're really concerned with cost, it's good.""Pricing is somewhat affordable compared to other solutions but in order to really lower the costs of other products you need to plan very carefully your resources usage, otherwise, it can get expensive real quick.""Our licensing fees are paid on a monthly basis.""My advice is to really keep an eye on your overage costs, as they can spiral really fast.""The price is better than some competing products."
