Quotes From Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"The most valuable feature is the deduplication rate.""It is very simple to perform an upgrade of the system and the environment.""It backs up our Windows systems and our Linux systems and everything."

"Before Veeam, we had backup infrastructure sprawl. Veeam was able to reduce our overall backup windows while reducing our dedicated backup infrastructure.""Vendor integration for many of the enterprise features have allowed for us to have greater performance from our storage vendors further improving on our commitments to protect our clients' data.""The most valuable feature is the ability to verify that backups are valid.""Features with the most value are Instant VM Recovery, SQL Explorer and Exchange Explorer.""The most valuable feature is adaptability, where it automatically adapts to the environment that it's being installed on.""The product is very simple in its design. We don't need it to perform complicated tasks.""The integration with some storage systems like HP or Nutanix and great support are the most valuable features. You get productivity support. You get a response within one hour, even in the evening or night. The functionality of the whole software is good.""I can't think of any improvements yet for Veeam because they are very good. It integrates very well with Microsoft applications. It is very easy to integrate. Micro Focus can also integrate but it's more complex. You have to know the product very well to be able to integrate. While Veeam, it's very user-friendly. You don't need to have certifications or anything to work on Veeam."

Cons
"The price could be lowered slightly, to make it more competitive.""The two-factor authentication is missing from Dell products.""After resizing and compression, the system continuously runs out of space. Dell EMC doesn't do automatic cleanup or other things, so we constantly have to manually go in there or work with Dell support on this. The solution has not been working as advertised."

"Multithreading of health check process: This can take too much time to process on large jobs and/or large VMs.""Additional executive summary reports for the entire infrastructure would be a nice to have.""One challenge that we have encountered was on the long-term retention of data. Be sure to look into a dedicated deduplication appliance.""We would like to see support for some additional storage systems.""Physical backup is always where room for improvement could be but Veeam has always stated they are not going in that direction.""They need full cloud integration such that an on-premises backup can be offloaded to the cloud for storage.""It needs to offer an automatic check for backups.""The whole graphical user interface is very easy, but the details are hidden deeply and aren't easily visible. You cannot easily see the details and explore or choose the settings. We should be able to easily explore various settings and options. If you can see more details while choosing the settings or setting it up, it helps in getting the software running easily. For example, in Microsoft Office, you can see much more in the interface than in Veeam Backup & Replication. It is a complex software. It is not easy to use, and you must know what to do and where to do. The user manual has more than a thousand pages. They should give some direct information through the software and improve the software. On their website, they can have some videos and step-by-step information to make us come straight to our goals."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"The licensing is billed on a monthly basis. Dell is bundled so that when you order IDPA, you get everything together with the license."

"We have increased our scalability while being able to free up senior resources from recovery activities. I estimate our overall savings to about $20,000 per year.""Veeam is more reasonably priced than some competing products.""My understanding is that it is a fairly small price point.""Its software solution has a fee.""It is more expensive than other solutions.""If you tell Veeam that you're competing with, for example, NetBackup or Backup Exec, or Dell or Micro Focus then they may lower the price. They are very competitive.""I don't know what the costs are for sure, but I think that it's on a yearly basis.""Its price is reasonable for a big company or a big client. It is not too much. It is cheaper than VMware."
