Quotes From Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"It has reduced downtime. Before, on our previous solution, we used to have downtime on some of the servers because of the sort of convention. But currently I've not experienced any downtime on any of the servers, and there is no more resource congestion.""The most valuable feature is the overall integration and just seeing the three different layers which make up the machine software. Altogether, it's something that I would say is much better than any other solution that I have experienced before.""The setup was very straightforward.""The program is stable.""The most valuable feature of this solution is integration.""Perfectly suits customers dealing with the combination of future storage needs and, at the same time, keeping up their computing power.""The solution is quite stable.""We're doing a lot of VMware for IT so this solution is really valuable from a VMH point of view. We're trying to assist our customers mainly with management, because that's what they want. The most important aspects are ease of management, as well as ease of configuration, allowing them to attach additional nodes and resources for the applications."

"It is a good solution and it is easy to work on their platform.""It consolidates our servers, and improves our electricity consumption and cooling as well.""The most valuable feature would be the ease of deployment. That is the most significant feature for me because I've worked with multiple vendors and it's always been very complicated to install the software and get everything running.""Best features are around data locality, compression, and deduplication.""The fact that there is only one interface to deploy a complete solution for maximum storage is fantastic.""I definitely find the reduced power consumption very valuable.""The most valuable features are its ease of use and its good performance.""The management interface of this solution is great."

Cons
"We're also running Hyper-V virtual machines. But we recently discovered that migration of the Hyper-V virtual machines is a bit challenging. Maybe if Dell EMC can come out with a tool that will make it very easy for us to migrate the Microsoft Hyper-V machine, that may be an improvement.""Exporting data from the dashboard is not very user-friendly. It's just designed in a way that it's going to cover let's say 90%, 80%, of the end-users needs. If you need more sophisticated reporting it's not easy to have.""Needs some more monitoring tools.""I am not really impressed by the technical support of this solution.""There should be more functionality available for routing.""Including instrumentation would be a helpful improvement.""The solution needs to offer more documentation and educational materials.""I think there might be some room for improvement when it comes to pricing, because although I know how to convert customers, at the end of day, it's quite expensive. Sometimes your feature architecture is still coming out much cheaper than hardware costs for your infrastructure."

More Dell EMC PowerFlex Cons »

"If we can have certified compatibility with other companies, such as Oracle, then it would let us know that they function correctly together.""The GUI for this solution needs improvement.""If they can simplify the software slightly for the installation, that would make all the difference.""We could always use a performance upgrade, or simplified management.""They have offered some new features that I have not deployed so I assume that these issues might have been addressed already, but, at my time there was a networking problem.""One thing I've noticed is that, when you do a shift from VMware to Nutanix, it opens the setup of the VM that's currently running. If people from another site double click on it, it opens the VM instead of the setup of the unit. So I would suggest that this could perhaps be switched. That is so far the only change I would like. I would like it if they could fix the instance where you double click on a VM and it opens the VM instead of the setup. That's the only thing that's a major bother to me.""The product could be improved with more security. The product needs a bit more experience in the market. I think you don't have the possibility to add other hardware. It could be improved with the ability to add and extend.""I would have liked it if Nutanix were a hardware as well as a software platform."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"The pricing for this solution is good."

"There are a lot of features included with Nutanix that cost a lot with other companies.""They should lower the price. If they did they would fall into a more competitive market because the price does scare a lot of potential customers away when they get the quote.""Pricing varies greatly between license and editions.""Our licensing fee on the total setup up was about R900 000.""I think it's cheaper than VMware in terms of cost.""AHV is free! This is a great feature that should be taken advantage of.""The licensing costs are a bit expensive but when you compare the features, it's reasonable.""This product is less expensive than some of the competing HCI solutions."
