We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It has made working with storage as easy and simple as it should be.""I use all the features of this solution and I find them to be easy to use and functional, such as the compression and capacity to expand.""My rating of Pure Storage is a ten out of ten because of the price for performance and footprint - the overall value.""Most of the problems that we had in the past with the performance in IOPS have disappeared. It has been a great improvement for our customers' services.""The speed is the most valuable feature, along with the ease of getting it connected. We were able to get it online in less than a day.""It upgrades in place which means we'll be using it well into the future.""We've had different types of storage, and three things of this solution are valuable. The first one is its outstanding performance. The second one is its stability. In the about three years that we've had it, we've had component failures, but we never had a service interruption or any data loss. The third one, which is really critical, is that it is super easy to use in terms of provisioning, storage, and managing the arrays. I'm able to maintain a multi-site environment with a couple of dozen arrays with a single mid-level storage admin.""The most valuable feature is how it simplifies the management of the SAN."

"The response time, compared to XtremIO, is far better.""Enterprise Cloud Storage is the most valuable feature, along with the data services which come with it, plus the deduplication and compression.""The PowerMax software and CloudIQ let us get an inside view of our compression and compaction, as well as our usage of the storage.""The product is very fast and reliable.""We removed the need to observe whether we ran into issues with the performance of disks or number of IOPS. Previously, our Oracle Database would throw us performance errors. Now, with PowerMax, everything runs smoothly.""The number one most valuable feature is reliability. I want to go home at the end of the day and come in the next day knowing it works, especially since we have storage offshore.""I am impressed with the tool's reliability since we see a few hardware failures with it. Also, the solution's replication configuration is good.""A huge benefit of the PowerMax has been the decreasing of our physical footprint. We recently did a consolidation where we went from 58 tiles down to 5. If we had used just the PowerMax, we could have gone from 58 tiles down to 2 tiles, which is huge space savings. If you have 56 newly available floor tiles on a raised floor data center, which you previously had to cool and provide power to, then now, not only are my costs going down, I now have more revenue opportunities because I have more space to put new customers."

"It is a stable and scalable solution with quick and efficient storage capability.""The most valuable feature of HPE Primera is its performance and simple replication.""HPE provides good support through their customer service.""We sold Primera to a public university, and they're happy with it. They have been using it for about four months with no significant problems.""The features that I have found most valuable are the artificial intelligence for the storage inside of the software and firmware because customers do not like functionalities which require manual interruption.""HPE Primera provides me with system reliability and 100% data reliability. The storage is good and is consistently reliable and scalable, allowing me to use it whenever needed. The overall performance is great. The product is stable. The customer service and support is excellent. It's a commendable solution, especially suitable for online transactions. It is reliable in meeting data requirements.""Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.""It is a stable solution...It is a scalable solution."

Cons
"We would like to see better troubleshooting aspects. It helps us if we can find out where the problem is. Right now, it's difficult. Sometimes it's difficult to pinpoint the issue. If they had more visibility and more troubleshooting feature built into the tool that would really help.""I would like to see support for NVMe, end-to-end.""Storage. There could be better storage.""We do have an issue with the vCenter integration. Pure Storage says it has a lot of free space, but vCenter says its completely full. This is because their dedupes are saved as space, but Vcenter still detects the disk as completely full. So, we do have an issue with that.""If they could make it cheaper, that would be something.""Its price could be cheaper. It is not the cheapest one out there, but I'm not directly involved in the figures and negotiations.""The 3PAR SSD arrays that we have are still failing a lot so even though we're under warranty, we still have to get someone out and usually have someone troubleshoot so that usually adds onto the cost. With Pure, we've had a disc fail and we pop it out and you pop it in and it's good to go.""I would like to see the NAS add-on component become more fault-tolerant than just a single virtual machine running inside the array. I'm unwilling to use it for that reason."

More Pure Storage FlashArray Cons →

"We have had some trouble with the VMAX-to-PowerMax migration, but the VMAX box will be powered down after the migration. The PowerMax boxes are working fine and we don't have any issues with them.""Since the merging of EMC and Dell into Dell Technologies, there has been a hurdle that they've had to overcome, and they're not over it yet. It takes two to three times longer for things to get fixed than it did when they were separate companies. That is something that has to be fixed.""I would like a more informative CloudIQ for iOS. What you can see via the web UI significantly differs from what you can see via the web application.""When it comes to Oracle and database workloads, data reduction could be a little bit better. Some of the competition, like Pure, have post-processes which do additional deduplication and compression on the backside; everything is in-line and then they do a secondary process. It would be a good option if you could start getting 5:1 or 6:1 data reduction on database workloads.""Dell PowerMax NVMe needs to increase storage and improve scalability.""The initial setup was a little bit complicated.""The initial setup could be easier.""The REST API needs improvement. We are a very big automation company, and this would be big for us."

More Dell PowerMax NVMe Cons →

"The solution could prove the reporting.""HPE Primera is not good enough as a storage solution as it does not provide a good NAS storage.""The reporting console can be improved with out of the box reports.""Increasing the IOPS and throughput values would make the product even better. Improving the scalability of HPE Primera is also recommended.""The interface needs to be more user-friendly in that sense that installation and management are still a bit on the high end.""The pricing is very high.""On the controller side, I would like to see NAS capabilities.""The cost of HPE Primera could be lower."

    Overview

Pure Storage FlashArray is the world’s first enterprise-class storage array that runs exclusively on the nonvolatile memory express (NVMe) protocol for memory access and storage. It represents a totally state-of-the-art type of storage technology. It offers users shared accelerated storage that delivers cutting-edge features in the realms of performance, simplicity, and consolidation. Pure Storage is fresh and modern today and will be for the next decade. Without forklift upgrades or planned downtime, Pure Storage takes the work out of storage ownership and delivers unprecedented customer satisfaction.

Pure Storage FlashArray is built with simplicity and reliability in mind. The solution can be implemented and optimized in hours, as opposed to other similar solutions that can take days. It has no moving parts, which removes areas where it could potentially be vulnerable to suffering errors. It is highly stable and gives users the ability to manage system shutdowns in a way that  prevents data loss.

    Benefits of Pure Storage FlashArray

Some of the benefits of using Pure Storage FlashArray include:

    • A much higher level of speed than similar pieces of technology. Pure Storage FlashArray maximizes the speed at which data can be transferred while at the same time minimizing system latencies that might slow the transfer down. Additionally, it offers users quick memory read and data access speeds.

    • A higher bang for your buck in terms of the storage capabilities you get for the money you pay. They are smaller in size than more standard storage technologies, but they offer flash memory, which enables users to store larger amounts of data than the current standard.

    Reviews from Real Users

Pure Storage FlashArray is a highly effective piece of storage technology which stands out among its competitors for a number of reasons. Two major ones are its overall robustness and the value that it offers by way of its reliability and ease of use. Managing replication and data migration is also very easy."

PeerSpot user Jason D., a cloud solutions architect at a tech services company, notes three features that make this solution valuable when he writes, "We've had different types of storage, and three things of this solution are valuable. The first one is its outstanding performance. The second one is its stability. In the about three years that we've had it, we've had component failures, but we never had a service interruption or any data loss. The third one, which is really critical, is that it is super easy to use in terms of provisioning, storage, and managing the arrays. I'm able to maintain a multi-site environment with a couple of dozen arrays with a single mid-level storage admin."
