We performed a comparison between Dell SC Series and Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI) based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Frame-Based Disk Arrays solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."Everything is sub-5 MS for us. What I've found is that, with all-flash, when an app from my business is slow, I pretty much know it's them and not me. It leads to a performance conversation that has really hit an interesting threshold point where we are better than what they need. So now we get to have that "refactoring your application" conversation a lot quicker because now the performance on the infrastructure side isn't in question anymore."
"The product offers good performance and is quite powerful."
"Customers are most impressed with SC's provisioning because you don't need to buy a large amount of storage upfront. It's pay-as-you-grow. It also has solid compression and duplication features."
"One of the most valuable features is the capability to switch between all-flash to hybrid, which have have actually done for one of our arrays. We started with the hybrid, with the limited if I'm not mistaken, and then over a period of time, we swapped all the hybrids with the SSDs. This was one of the big features because it gave us the capability to not stick with just one kind of media. Secondly, since it has sorted clustering, we were able to bring in the newer boxes and have it all clustered together. These were the two main features that we really looked into, which benefited our use case from an expansion/growth perspective. Another valuable feature is the ease of management."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to replicate. We are running a financial company and it needs to be available 24/7. We can't afford any downtime."
"We see very low latency with very high IOPS for mixed workloads."
"This solution is easy to use."
"One time, we had a drive fail and we were notified before we even saw it on the device."
"It's much easier and faster even when you want to create a server from a template or clone."
"The speed of the operations and of creation of VM is fantastic."
"One major thing that comes up again and again is stability. Our downtime is literally based on hardware upgrades that need to be done. Acropolis is very, very user friendly. You don't have to physically have a super IT guy to manage the system. You can actually give it to a younger guy to manage and there won't be problems. And if he makes a mistake, it's very, very easy to fall back and sort out the mistake."
"It has a single pane of glass and you don't have to jump around various toolsets."
"Acropolis has a great interface and lots of management features packaged with it at an affordable price."
"Hyperconverged Infrastructure is the most valuable feature of Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure."
"The features that I have found most valuable include its HA facility, viability, robustness, flexibility, it's time to go live is very short, and it has a friendly user interface."
"They have one of the best technical supports in my experience."
"We have seen some degraded throughput with mixed workloads. We have been working with Dell EMC to correct some of these latency issues."
"It's not very efficient anymore. There are better products out there."
"An issue we had was that the controller went down during an upgrade because of their upgrading the code. One side of the switch was down."
"I would like to have 100% functionality through the web app."
"The SC Series doesn't support NVMe storage."
"I would like to see an integrated key manager in the controllers. Currently, it's an external product. It would be nice to have the option of having a built-in key for self-encrypting drive features."
"The connection should be better integrated with the network to offer a better view of the system."
"From a performance point of view, it's getting a bit old."
"We had a few problems with the foundation machine that you can use to build your systems out. We've got it working now, but it should be improved."
"Native File-Services are under heavy development and Container Services just came out."
"The scalability of Nutanix Acropolis AOS needs improvement."
"The documentation could be improved."
"In the licensing, it needs to be clear about features because it is not clear whether Flow is integrated or not."
"In the next release of this solution, they could improve by being more competitive with VMware. I would like all third-party solutions to work well with Nutanix Acropolis AOS."
"Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure's cloud platform management software could be improved so that I can manage my load between the cloud and on-premises."
"They should support more VM, which is not currently supported."
