We performed a comparison between Dell EqualLogic PS series and IBM FlashSystem based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Modular SAN (Storage Area Network) solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."If you have one datacenter fail, the VMs will start to run inside the other data center."
"The technical support for EqualLogic has been universally outstanding."
"It is stable and scalable."
"Dell's technical support is very good."
"You can always trust it. It is stable."
"It is a stable solution. Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten."
"The technical support is very good."
"Technical support, when we had access to it, was very good."
"This solution is really user friendly. It also offers good performance and is highly reliable."
"The initial customer technical support was efficient and effective."
"Installing FlashSystem is very easy. It takes less than half an hour, and I can handle it all myself."
"The most valuable feature of the solution is compression."
"The speed and the ease of installation are the most valuable features."
"One of the most valuable features is that it's very easy to use and configure. It used to be more difficult, but now it's almost flawless."
"The Flash core models offer amazing performance."
"It's a mature product. It's like a BMW that evolves consistently."
"The replication efficiency needs to be improved."
"Synchronous replication uses space inefficiently."
"If I need to have more space or more capacity, I need to replace the product. It would be ideal if we could scale without replacing the box itself."
"Dell EqualLogic PS series could improve by providing fiber channel connectivity. Fiber channel connectivity is not supported, which is a requirement of advanced applications, such as SAP HANA. SAP HANA recommends fiber channel connectivity, but the Dell EqualLogic PS series is only an ISCSI data storage."
"We need more space and we can't get any."
"Dell EqualLogic PS series could improve the performance because in our hybrid configuration the read speed is faster than the write speed."
"Why is it not possible for both controllers to be simultaneously active (load balancing)?"
"There is no option for mixing RAID types in one device."
"They can improve its initial configuration. The initial configuration is currently very difficult. There are multiple choices or alternative ways to configure based on the use case and what you are targeting out of the device, that is, more capacity or more performance. These multiple alternatives cause a lot of confusion. They should increase the processing part of the nodes. Currently, you can cluster up to eight nodes. From my experience and the workload that I am facing in my environment currently, I would like to see either a bigger or stronger node or a larger number of nodes that can be clustered together. We formally communicated to them that we need to see either this or that, and they are working on something."
"A big area for improvement is that the data reduction pool feature is not recommended for use in a production environment because it has stability and performance issues."
"Include an option to upload the support package to the IBM ECuRep when opening an IBM PMR."
"GUI interface should be enhanced more as there is some issues in copy services."
"The interface of this solution could be improved."
"The solution is not easy to implement. It takes a lot of time to study the product and it's a little complicated in general."
"AHV is Acropolis Hypervisor – A relatively new Hypervisor, robust and stable as VMware vSphere, has built-in advanced analytics and powerful operations, Self Service Portal and components for DevOps included, managed by a single pane of glass (Prism) via HTML5 and it is free of charge – That is why Nutanix is so advanced and revolutionary."
"IBM should improve its data reduction development."
IBM FlashSystem products are enterprise computer data storage systems that store data on flash memory chips. Unlike storage systems that use standard solid-state drives, IBM FlashSystem products incorporate custom hardware based on technology from the 2012 acquisition of Texas Memory Systems. This hardware provides performance, reliability, and efficiency benefits versus competitive offerings.
