We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Cloud security posture management is the feature we've been using the longest.""All of the features are very useful in today's market.""The solution is scalable.""It is able to bring visibility into that cloudy space where the security departments do not really see what is happening on the DevOps side. It brings visibility, security control, and standardization.""Check Point CloudGuard CNAPP's initial configuration is very easy. It is plug-and-play. It also gives regular updates.""Overall, it provides good security.""The feature that I find most valuable is the blocking feature.""The system has deployed security tools to enhance effective investigations in the entire company networking system."

"The solution is extremely scalable.""We've been happy with the pricing.""This is an easy means of setting up high-availabilty firewall protection.""The initial setup is straightforward, and it is very customer friendly.""A good network security system for medium-sized businesses with an excellent GUI interface that gives a graphic view of network status.""The most valuable features of Fortinet FortiOS are the granular control and their interoperability is good.""I am satisfied with Fortinet FortiOS. It's a cool product and has a lot of UTM features. It has application control, web filtering, antivirus, IPS/IDS, DNS filtering, and many things in that firewall. It also has a web application firewall WAF feature. On the feature side, it's a good firewall.""We have expanded the wireless access point and switches using Fortinet FortiOS."

Cons
"The main issue that we found with Dome9 is that we have a default rule set with better recommendations that we want to use. So, you do a clone of that rule set, then you do some tweaks and customizations, but there is a problem. When they activate the default rule set with the recommendations and new security measures, it doesn't apply the new security measures to your clones profile. Therefore, you need to clone the profile again. We are already writing a report to Check Point.""It should have some options to activate API calls to the platform in the cloud, another improvement would be that when the rules are colonized and they want to be published.""I strongly advise that the multi-layered security system of Check Point often undergoes updates and new versions keep coming.""Almost all features are good, however, they still require improvements to the code security portion on which integration with the major source code repository is required.""The costs are really high if you want the entire capabilities of the platform.""Currently, worldwide, there are many companies of all sizes that do not understand the value that their data has, but even with all existing clouds, they also do not understand what the shared responsibility model is. They only assume that by having a cloud, the provider must ensure safety, when the truth is that the providers only secure their sites. Everything we do in the cloud and how we configure it is actually our responsibility.""Down the road, we would like to see automation. That is probably a feature that most people want. If they can automate patching a vulnerability, it will be much easier.""The technical support could be better, but I do not know of any other needed improvements."

More Check Point CloudGuard CNAPP Cons →

"The report and policy optimization tools can be improved in the next release.""The solution could improve by making the dashboard easier to use.""Technical support could be better. Some competitors have much more responsive support teams.""I would like to see smaller and more frequent updates.""For me, it is important to be able to block VPN applications, like Facebook, so I would like to see that included in the next release. With this version, if you want to block or allow a site, you now have to drag all the domains related to this site.""I want to see a better integration or a better integration with the endpoint protection or with EDR with the security life cycle.""Fortinet FortiOS is stable. However, last month we had an issue with a released patch. We had to receive another update to fix the firewall issue consuming all of the resources. The patches should be tested more before going into circulation.""The GUI could be improved to make it more usable, easier to administer, and easier to configure."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "They support either annual licensing or hourly. At the time of our last negotiation, it was either one or the other, you could not mix or match. I would have liked to mix/match. "
  • "I would advise taking into account the existing number of devices and add a forecast of the number of devices to be added in the coming year or two, to obtain better pricing."
  • "It is a very straightforward licensing model that is based on the number of assets you are discovering and managing with the solution."
  • "The licensing and costs are straightforward, as they have a baseline of 100 workloads (number of instances) within one license with no additional nor hidden charges. If you want to have 200 workloads under Dome9, then you need to take out two licenses for that. Also, it does not have any impact on cloud billing, as data is shared using the API call. This is well within the limit of free API calls provided by the cloud provider."
  • "I suggest that you pay attention to the product pricing because while there are no tricks, and the licensing model is transparent, the final numbers may surprise you."
  • "Right now, we have licenses on 500 machines, and they are not cheap."
  • "The pricing is tremendous and super cheap. It is shockingly cheap for what you get out of it. I am happy with that. I hope that doesn't get reported back and they increase the prices. I love the pricing and the licensing makes sense. It is just assets: The more stuff that you have, the more you pay."
  • "Licensing and costs are straightforward, as they have a baseline of 100 workloads within one license and no additional charges."
  • More Check Point CloudGuard CNAPP Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "The program is expensive."
  • "We pay an annual license fee. It is rather expensive so I would like to perhaps see a drop in price in the future."
  • "Be sure to choose a licensing plan that leaves a little headroom so performance is not an issue."
  • "We pay $100,000. That covers the cost of the hardware that we run the VN's on. That also includes any SGNA costs for the internal support tech."
  • "Pricing depends on implementation and licensing choices and is usually not a practical budget choice for small businesses."
  • "The support contracts are usually about $100 - $200 a device."
  • "The software costs roughly half what the hardware costs. Overall, the product is expensive."
  • "The price of Fortinet FortiOS has been reasonable."
