Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Application Ring-Fencing and Deception Server, which is basically like a honeypot, are pretty useful features.""The solution is very scalable, especially when connected to the cloud resources.""The real bonus is the fact that we can secure applications, all the way down to the individual services, on each host. It's actually more granular security than we can get out of a traditional firewall.""From day one, you get threat intelligence. It will immediately block active threats, which has been useful.""That is primarily because I've seen increased rules. It's kind of caught us a little off guard. With GuardiCore, I have had to deal with their technical support and engineering team in Israel. They are amazing. They are very quick to adapt.""The interface and dashboard are amazing.""Its deception features are great, providing a rich telemetry of lured origins, and are a great resource for any active defense strategy.""The tool is a complete package that offers many features like visibility. You can get a graph with real-time workflows and visibility into server-to-server communication. We get visibility into many things happening within our environment."

"The most valuable feature is posture management, which gives you complete visibility of all your assets in the cloud and allows you to do governance and compliance.""The most valuable features of CloudGuard CNAPP are its reporting capabilities for aggregating vulnerability information and scoring.""Alerts of cloud activity happening across all accounts is helpful.""It saves time because I can look across the organization. Instead of checking 50 different accounts atomically and spending 15 minutes investigating each, I can spend 15 minutes exploring all 50 accounts. It allows me to quickly look across the org for similar problems when one comes up. That's a huge time saver.""It offers security insights and recommendations to assist organizations in acting and remediating issues swiftly.""It provides critical insights that enable the IT team to plan and launch smart investigations when there are security breaches.""Good interface and visibility.""This solution helps to keep everything visible, and it also alerts us if something is wrong, such as if someone opened extra ports or services that they are not supposed to. This is a valuable tool for monitoring and maintaining our cloud environment."

Cons
"The long-term management of the security policies could be improved with some kind of automation platform, something like Chef or Puppet or Ansible, to help you manage the policies after day-one... to then manage the policies and changes to those policies, going forward, through some type of automation process is not turning out to be really easy.""Supports become difficult when it's for a big organization. For a small organization, medium organization, it still makes sense, however, for a big organization, it makes life difficult.""The product needs a few features like enhanced user policies and payload-level inspection to improve the offering.""It doesn't support a PAAC solution (Platforma as a service) in the cloud.""Incident tagging could be improved. Other vendors offer semi-automatic tagging, which Guardicore doesn't yet have.""It would be very helpful for beginners if the solution had more windows to help with the terms inside instead of going to the documentation.""The maps could go a bit faster. They are useful but slightly slow.""They can maybe improve their customer service just because they are kind of a small organization, and customer service isn't as big as others such as VMware."

More Akamai Guardicore Segmentation Cons →

"The costs are high.""I would like to see Test B functions at the application access level.""I would like to see improvements in the vulnerability assessments in terms of how the solution discovers vulnerabilities or compromised workloads. Also, customizable reports would be nice.""We were demotivated by the lack of native automation modules for the Terraform and Ansible tools.""I would like them to include support for their products in languages other than English.""The user interface could be improved. Sometimes, the visibility is not immediately available for the environment. We have the native servers that come with the solutions, but we cannot see them in the Check Point log. Another issue is with the integrated file monitoring. It would make sense to have stuff like file integrity monitoring and malware scanning available within this module because we don't want to integrate another product.""The tool should incorporate more use cases like improving security scores. It should also improve documentation.""The reporting has a lot of opportunities to continuously improve so that we can continue to show value."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "GuardiCore has made some new changes to the license now. We've seen monthly and annual licenses based on a subscription. We have a few clients that pay anywhere from $25,000 a year."
  • "Compared to the pricing we were seeing from both Illumio and Edgewise, Guardicore was very competitive."
  • "Guardicore Centra provides better value for money than NSX, was the other solution that we looked at, which was too expensive for what it does."
  • "This is not a cheap solution but you have to consider the bigger picture, which is what it is giving you."
  • "The customer would complain about the cost."
  • "The solution is reasonably priced and I would rate it a six out of ten. The tool's licensing costs are yearly."
  • "The price is the same as other products in the market. There's no price argument to choose one or the other product, it will cost the customer approximately the same."
  • "Akamai Guardicore Segmentation is expensive."

  • "They support either annual licensing or hourly. At the time of our last negotiation, it was either one or the other, you could not mix or match. I would have liked to mix/match. "
  • "I would advise taking into account the existing number of devices and add a forecast of the number of devices to be added in the coming year or two, to obtain better pricing."
  • "It is a very straightforward licensing model that is based on the number of assets you are discovering and managing with the solution."
  • "The licensing and costs are straightforward, as they have a baseline of 100 workloads (number of instances) within one license with no additional nor hidden charges. If you want to have 200 workloads under Dome9, then you need to take out two licenses for that. Also, it does not have any impact on cloud billing, as data is shared using the API call. This is well within the limit of free API calls provided by the cloud provider."
  • "I suggest that you pay attention to the product pricing because while there are no tricks, and the licensing model is transparent, the final numbers may surprise you."
  • "Right now, we have licenses on 500 machines, and they are not cheap."
  • "The pricing is tremendous and super cheap. It is shockingly cheap for what you get out of it. I am happy with that. I hope that doesn't get reported back and they increase the prices. I love the pricing and the licensing makes sense. It is just assets: The more stuff that you have, the more you pay."
  • "Licensing and costs are straightforward, as they have a baseline of 100 workloads within one license and no additional charges."
